As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

But the number of seats filled and the actual attendances don't add up. I remember an FA Cup 12pm game with Blackburn back in 2007 and there were at least 3,000 more empty seats than the attendance claimed and the announcement of however many were supposedly there was laughed at by everyone.
Agree with the first point your spot on sadly. I suspect that the gaps are more visible as more season ticket seats in the lower tier were unfilled. Cant see how the attendance can be fraudulantly inflated, isnt it all electronic If attendees were inflated I would have thought that the HMRC would be interested in the tax not being paid for unsold tickets that were translated into ghost attenders.
Maybe the ticketholders got lost between the turnstile and the seat, or went home as the seat wasnt comfortable enough to snooze in, or spent the match washing up as they couldnt pay for their drinks
I think the talk of HMRC is indicating some crossed wires here
Mine and your definition of attendance = how many people are in the ground?
Club's definition of attendance = how many tickets paid for?
The latter way is generally how attendances are measured in a lot of countries on the continent from what I've heard although I'm not sure if other PL clubs do the same as us.

No, Im just saying if the club say 59,500 attended yet they only sold 57,000 tickets then HMRC would be looking at the difference between claimed sales and attendance if it happens through the season. There seems to be a squad of HMRC inspectors for football clubs larger than The Chavs squad
Im not at all sure that teams can just make up the attendance, and alter it to sold tickets
Tickets were all sold out on the website, there were quite a lot for red silver etc members on the ticket exchange, so it was technically a sell out, and the shortfall were non attending season ticket holders mostly, it was definately the case for The 3rd round Scum match
In the grand scheme of things how does it affect anybody on here the amount of people in the stadium,i couldnt give a fuck how many people show up for a game ,why does it seem to be such a big issue for some people, its just whinging for the sake of whinging.
Ps after sobering up i can now see how it would affect some people if they couldnt get tickets for a particular match and then they saw empty seats at the stadium, please accept my humble apologies

At the Spurs game earlier on in the month, the amount of people who arrive 10-15 mins after the game started, and left 10-15 mins before the end of the first half/game was astonishing.
I can't believe people would spend £62+ on a ticket, and miss a huge chunk of the game
When I used to use my mate's Club Level ST there was a family of Asians (Dad, two daughters, son) that sat beside us and I always got the impression they thought they were buying tickets for the cricket and mistakenly ended up with football tickets. Nice polite people, but they would arrive late, then during the game they'd open the sandwiches and the flask of soup and read the programme, or fiddle with an iPod, and kind of just sit there looking a bit uninterested no matter what was happening and then leave about 5 to 10 minutes before the end. As I say, nice polite people (and never once complained about me or my mate or my brother roaring and screaming beside them ) but I always wondered why they bothered...
I hope the Fat Drunk lovers on here had a good look at him on Friday night. Slow, lazy, inept, first touch of a rapist, ability to miss the ball entirely (twice! ) when attempting to kick it, no idea when or where to run, very little physical presence, weak in the air. I'm sorry but he makes Giroud look like Henry!
Forget this "if he got a run of games" rubbish - he could get 100 games in a row and he'd still be shit. You can't teach the basics if they are not there in the player. He simply hasn't got any of the basic traits to be a PL striker.
I used to think he'd end up at Palace, but fuck me sideways he's not even that good!

On Wengers page. 'I am told that tonight's game is a sell-out, and that is tremendous news, I am absolutely spoilt to have the privilege of managing my team in a full stadium every time we play'.
A sell out? A sell out every time we play?
I would guess last night about 55k turned up.
Surprisingly the attendance was 59,451, so only 550 odd less than usual PL matches, and astonishingly only around 25 less than for the Scum in the 3rd round
Plenty of tickets on the exchange so I guess that was the 500 or so not sold on but already "sold" to season ticket holders, so in fairness it was a "sell out" apart from the season ticket holders who couldnt sell on
Wouldnt really therefore be too critical of that comment
Where I sat on Friday, in row 2 just above the away supporters, I had a perfect view of the club level seats below along the whole length of the West stand. 20 minutes in, it was no more than 50% occupied.
Add to that there were plenty of empties in the other regular priced tiers. Nowhere near 59k in the ground.

I now realise mocking Augie's posts were wrong. If anything, this forum should be commended for embracing somebody who suffers from such obvious educational challenges and encoring them in such an uplifting manner. It is, however, very disappointing to see this forum ruined by such blatant racism.
Why the need to mention they are Asian? Why the need to tar them with a racial stereotype such as they only know cricket just because they did not act in accordance with how you feel a 'proper' football fan should.
Perhaps they bothered because they enjoyed it. Perhaps they were very aware that they were at a football match but did not need to act a conventional manner to display such pleasure? I will leave you with that to think about as I am sure someone such as yourself will only get confused if I try and get any deeper on the issue.
I have been left very offended by this whole episode.
