How on earth can anyone sell a player this good?
The more I think about it, and considering the ludicrous nature of transfer fees now, the £30m price tag seems a steal. Cannot wait to see how he settles in. :barscarf:

Andy Carroll = £35m
Alexis Sanchez = £30m
You can compare just about anything to Andy Carroll and it will represent excellent value.

Although on a serious note £30m nowadays for a player of his age, quality and experience is cheap.

Has anyone got any ideas for chants for Sanchez yet? I can't find any of this thread. Would like to include one or two in the first issue of the season.

1989 please read the comments from "wengs" ( ) re sanchez at yesterdays press conference -

"I like the fact he can play left, right, up front and that’s why I went for him. At the moment I want to see him in both positions"

Point No.1 - your god (le cock) says nothing about playing him through the middle so your assertion that he would play in girouds position is, quite frankly, a load of bollocks

Point No.2 - he talks about playing him on the left or right which suggestions yet again he is persisting with his continually failing system/formation  Most of us hoped (some of us knew it wouldnt happen) that he would finally ditch this bullshit formation but yet again the king of tactics shows what a total and utter inept tactical fool he really is  How long will it be before the complaints about sanchez not helping his full back begin ? Fcuk off wenker

I don't think it was ever the case that he was going to be starting 30+ PL games up front.

Would Wenger have been willing to pay £40m+ for Suarez last season if he couldn't play out wide left? QUite possibly not. I also think that if Higuain could feasibly play out on a wing occasionally he'd be an Arsenal player right now.

My feelings on this are a bit mixed because although I am loath to see Giroud starting fairly regularly, from what I've seen of Sanchez there are genuinely not that many players better in world football to fill a wing forward slot for us.

Sánchez is a striker. He is a good finisher, who made a great impression at Udinese.

At Barcelona, it was a bit more difficult but it’s like you could see with Neymar at Barcelona, because there you have [Lionel] Messi. You see Neymar with Brazil and Neymar with Barcelona and it’s not the same. I like the fact that Sánchez can play left, right and up front

"
Like I said he will be used up front a lot, which means less giroud, which is great news. :barscarf:

And podolski is a good striker but yet is played on the wing so why does the word striker make you guys believe it only applies to a central position in wenkerworld ? Instead listen to the clearer version of what he said yesterday and that is that he will be playing him on the left and on the right - it may not suit your ideas on where he should play (it doesn't suit mine either) but he said with certainty that he see's him playing on the left and the right so put those pipe dreams of yours on the back burner for the foreseeable future :(

we tried podolski as a striker and he was terrible.

Be honest Sanchez is far more talented than podolski, and should do a much better job there.

Well what's wrong with Sanchez playing on the flanks. We have to be direct sometimes and that may mean sigh, Giroud, although I never want to see him start against the top 4/5 teams, he has proven he cannot compete with their defenders.

If Sanchez proves he can play in the center and score goals he will stay there, but Giroud wil play some games as well. He does after all score against weaker defences. Plus Theo is out for a while and it makes sense to play Sanchez in his place.

Theo would have been a good striker, but you just know the ball won't stick with him, and he'll find it very difficult to keep the ball till the cavalry arrives.

Took a bit of time but I think I may have come up with an original and simple to remember tune for Alexis Sanchez.

Based on the Red Hot Chillie Pepper's  'I've got a feeling'

I've got a feeling
That A-lexis will be a good buy,
Yes A-lexis will be a good buy,
Our A-lexis will be a good, good buy.
