Which makes me think that he does realise and reinforces my conviction that he (consciously) places his own ego above the best interests of the club. He knew how key that Wigan game was and for the last 15 he ditched his precious fucking principles and we not only went 2 up front but stopped the incessant insipid passing and just lumped the ball up.clockender1 wrote:i have no idea - he went 442 in both the cup final and semi and it worked both times. why we can clearly see so much and he doesn't is amazing.northbank123 wrote: Just makes an obvious improvement having another constant presence up top. How the fuck does he not see that?

We beat a top 4 team even if they had 2 DM absent and only 10 men in the last 10mins, we still won, so well done, Arsenal.

tonights lies and bullshit :
no mention of the 10 men then wonga ?
"We were jaded physically but Alexis Sanchez can dig deep and has such desire and a will to win, he still finds that resource to get you something special.
"Olivier Giroud made a big difference. You could see the physical impact. He looked sharp.
"We had to be patient to create chances and their keeper played well. A positive of the night is there clean sheets in a row. big respect for the attitude of the players and the solidarity they show."

I know Martinez wasn't really tested at any stage, but I'd keep him in the team. The games he has played so far he hasn't done a whole lot wrong.

I like him, I think he's done very well on the bits he has done.

Another life used up by Arsene, poor game , players looked a bit wary . Southampton could have nicked a goal or two..From a TV viewing view point the atmosphere was awful.

Exactly - mc you talk about the ten minutes like it was an irrelevence but the reality is that we scored when they were a man down. I'm not for one second suggesting that we wouldnt of scored anyway (how could anyone prove or disprove that ?) but right now we know that we didnt score in the 80 minutes that they had 11 players, and could only score when they were down to 10 players (and it was a defender that went off too) so it wa a very valid point

Re: SOUTHAMPTON HOME THREAD
Giroud made us look more purposeful when he came on.
Other than that it was pretty laboured (jaded
). I won't say that Cazorla's yellow/red tackle on Tadic helped in our win but it didn't hurt...unless that is your Tadic

Re: SOUTHAMPTON HOME THREAD
Giroud was the difference. He absolutely got amongst their CH's and panicked them. We looked neater and sharper with him on the pitch. His interlinking play is far far superior to Welbeck's. His first touch is a good bit better too. But I still hold that he (and Welbeck) are very average and we should be looking for better strikers. Giroud for me is a second striker and would be better served as part of a 2 up front with a clinical finisher. If only we had a clinical finisher at the club... maybe a German one...
Welbeck is never going to be a top striker. He's a good striker. As is Giroud. But neither are top class.
Ramsey was again utter dogshit, but did brilliantly for the drag back for Sanchez's winner. Cazorla was muck again and Captain Stupid was his usual run around like a headless chicken, yell alot, clap alot, point at stuff alot, idiotic self.
The Ox looked absolutely fucked off at being subbed. I'm torn on this issue tbh. I don't like to see public displays of petulance by subbed players - everyone gets subbed at some point, man up, get over it. But also, I kinda like the fact that he was pissed off. Shows he wants to be out there, he is hungry.
Nacho Monreal is not a footballer. He is stealing a living.
There's no denying we got out of jail a bit there with them going down to 10 men. They basically just sat back and let us go at them for the last 10 minutes. Law of averages dictated we'd get a few oportunities. But you can only play what's in front of you.

Re: SOUTHAMPTON HOME THREAD
yet again Wenger gets lucky and to be honest after going last night I can see him staying and staying and staying.
most of the crowd in there these days are not the typical Arsenal going crowd of 20-30 years ago. they are mostly quite happy to sit there, eat their hotdogs, buy their Arsenal logo clothes and if well we get a scrappy late goal then that is just a bonus.
