My 2000th post .had to be on this thread..Bradywasking wrote:Henry winter saying it's Wenger's last season. Making the same mistakes, Wenger appointed Gazidis, only way it will be solved is if Wenger leaves.
Andy Dunn..says Arsenal will not compete again for a title when Wenger is manager. Let two defenders go with no back up. Wenger refuses to replace them. (not failed to replace them)
Shaun Curtis...went downhill since losing last of back five, never figured out how to replace them, "doing things with class" is now holding Arsenal back.
Andy Dunn..Wenger signed three year contract so he still believes.

Unfortunately since everyone else has caught up with using sports science and statistics he has lost his only advantage over the other managers.
Whereas they use it to supplement their knowledge of tactics etc. Wenger uses it to make all his decisions including time of substitutions, player recruitment etc.
I bet that if someone offered him a 20 year old Tony Adams on a free he would turn his nose up at the deal because opta showed he was not athletic enough. Because you cannot measure will to win, determination, heart and it's affect on the entire team he simply does not value it.
He was fortunate that this attitude was passed down from Adams, Keown, Bould etc. onto Cole, Vieira, Petit. That was lost when Vieira left and has not returned. Sadly it is unlikely to return with Wenger in charge

Keep losing and we will be in a relegation battle at this rate
At least that will be different
They said Clough was too good to go down, but the old soak managed it. I really feel Arsenile could get us relegated. Free fall down the table has started, and you know he wouldn't have a clue how to handle a relegation battle.
Kroenke will be delighted if we get relegated
They play 46 games in the Championship. Think of the extra money!!

Agreed, the competitive advantage he had - foreign scouting networks, investment in youth and training facilities, sports science and analysis - has been eroded. He has just not evolved at all. He's still looking for bargains in Ligue 1 and it's not going to happen because nearly every PL club is scouting there and the clubs know they can demand a big fee for their brightest players. It's not that the quality isn't there - Chelsea built a class side with Cech, Essien and Drogba at the core - but in the £5-12m range you're fighting with the likes of Newcastle and that should tell you all it needed to know.Goose wrote:Unfortunately since everyone else has caught up with using sports science and statistics he has lost his only advantage over the other managers.

He was never a brilliant tactician but then neither was Ferguson. But Ferguson realised that he needed to change in order to stay at the top. How do you think Ferguson felt about chucking £28m at somebody like Veron who looked like he couldn't be arsed? Did he enjoy having to pamper to Ronaldo on his way to the top? Did he fuck, but it was a necessary evil to stay on top. Whereas Wenger would rather pack his squad full of compliant players who won't rock the boat and ensures that he is paid more than any of them (whilst moaning about the silly money in football).
How anybody can actually think that he is closer to success or a better manager than he was in 2008? His will to win is completely overriden by his tunnel-vision and his ego and that in itself is fatal.
Re: THE WENGER THREAD
I have said this before but its becoming more relevant. Next year sees the financial rewards from the Champions league increase greatly. The board cannot allow the club to sleepwalk into non qualification. The chances of qualification are slim, we are in deep trouble if you look at the long term prospects.
Re: THE WENGER THREAD
Maybe in some ways, you get what you deserve as fans. The majority of our fan base think Wenger is doing a great Job, and will defend him beyond reason, so they are getting what they deserve. Btw This guy is still 100% for http://youtu.be/VU0h1G6rD0k

Wenger - I feel so sorry for the fans
Arsène Wenger says he feels “so sorry for the fans” after Arsenal’s 2-1 defeat against Manchester United on Saturday.
Kieran Gibbs’ own goal and Wayne Rooney’s strike gave Manchester United the lead before Olivier Giroud hit a late consolation on his return from injury.
Wenger saw his side dominate the match but struggle to find the finishing touch after creating several clear-cut chances.
I feel so sorry for our fans and the energy level the players put in not to get a win today because it’s so disappointing
Arsène Wenger
“There was lots of energy,” the manager told Arsenal Player. “We produced a game of quality and energy and in the end we didn’t get the reward. Manchester United had two shots on target and we lost the game - that’s what it was.
“All the rest was one of the most one-way traffic games I’ve seen against United. I feel so sorry for our fans and the energy level the players put in not to get a win today because it’s so disappointing.
“We have to look at ourselves as well because we made a big mistake for the first goal and we were too impatient after when we were 1-0 down just because we wanted to come back quickly.
“We’re not efficient in the zone where the games are won offensively and defensively. Unfortunately their goalkeeper had a great game as well.”

Re: THE WENGER THREAD
For me the last pro-Wenger straw to clutch has just blown away. That being the idea that winning the cup would give us more of a winning mentality, we're as woeful as ever in that regard with all the other problems which haven't been addressed in the last 10 years.
Yesterday was like a ticklist of Wenger fuck ups
Defensive fuck-up from a cross - check
Tactical ineptitude when 1-0 down - check
9 players crowding the same space of pitch during desperation attacks - check
Being physically bullied in midfield by a lumbering oaf - check
No defensive midfielder worth his salt - check
Players (Ramsey) seeming to play with little or no instruction, just running around aimlessly - check
Former exciting players reduced to little more than sideways passing merchants (Cazorla) - check
Still, at least we're predictable enough that we're a good way to beat the bookies

If he feels so sorry for us all, why doesn't he fuck off up the road to the Lane when Pochettino gets the punt and go and be their Trojan horse

Re: THE WENGER THREAD
I saw in his post match interviews he kept mentioning that we weren't 'efficient' enough. What does that even mean? Surely we're not efficient enough because he instructs the players to play his awful tepid passing game which never leads to anything and allows the opposition defence, no matter how bad they are, enough time to organise themselves and regroup?
Maybe we're not efficient enough because we've got players like Welbeck and Wilshere in the team who spurn glorious chances while the best finisher at the club sits on watching from the bench? Possibly we're not efficient because Alexis, by far the best player we have and the only one that looks capable of scoring, is shunted out to the left despite scoring for fun while playing in the middle over the past few weeks?
He hides behind these words that mean nothing, not realising he's actually criticising himself and yet these interviewers will never pick him up on it

3 wins in 40. That's what we pay the big bucks for! - a manager who can drag every last ounce out of his players and make a team greater than the sum of it's parts.SteveO 35 wrote:You're too kind......why not add in the 2 wins from the last 13 against Man City (both in games where they were reduced to 10 men)g88ner wrote:Wenger's record vs. United since 2009: won 1, drawn 3, lost 11

Re: THE WENGER THREAD
At any one time there will be various teams/managers underperforming and a favourite AKB tactic is to compare Wenger favourably to them - "Moyes/van Gaal are hardly doing great", "look how shit Dortmund are doing in the Bundesliga", "LOL at Liverpool", "look how much money Spurs spent last year and where it got them" etc etc etcg88ner wrote:3 wins in 40. But 3 wins in 40, or basically any variation of that statistic, is indefensible. We have consistently been beaten by the top teams for donkeys' years now, no getting away from it.

right now, i'd take relegation if it cleared wenger, kroenke, and the AKB's out of our club.
i'd rather be in the Championship with a manager and owners that cared about the club with gates of 35,000 loyal fans, rather than what we have suffered the last five years.
thats where i am. sad its come to this.

Re: THE WENGER THREAD
It is Clear that the culture on this club is not a "winners" culture. Mediocrity and self preservation is now engendered from the top to the bottom of the club.
There is constant evidence for 8 years of this fact.
It is up to the fans to recognise this and change it - SIMPLE !
