THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

SteveO my old man has seen a drastic change in 12 months - he wasn't an ardent AKB but lots of excuses about carrying the can for the board etc. Now he's hoping that we lose to Dortmund (despite spending best part of two days going to the game and spending a fair whack as he always does as a ST holder) because he's so disillusioned with Wenger and canes him at every opportunity.

Any hints of your dad cracking or is he holding strong as ever? :barscarf:

I go to support the team, its not a vindication of Wenger or the board.
You cant blame loyal fans turning up to follow the team.
Shameful post.
I am not saying that fans attending games are the problem, but when fans are finding excuses for the manager, and celebrating finishing 4th, then they are a problem, as they are condoning Wenger's behaviour. My point about the stadium being full is that no matter what the board charge, fans will still turn up.

Wasn't in the right frame of mind to talk to him today as it normally ends in a row at the best of times! I have no doubt in the next 24 hours that I will be offered a block 2 freebie for the midweek snoozefest so will find out the mood of the windowlickers then. There has been no sign of any anti There's Only One sentiment yet so will be amazed if there's a U-turn just yet

What you are saying is that you support the team for the good games

I don't judge you for attending games but I cannot understand how there are so, so many angry and frustrated Gooners at games, but yet fcuk all voice their disapproval  I absolutely hate this bullshit where some fans suggest that booing/turning on wenker, is disruptive to the team and by booing we are not "supporters" :x I personally do not give a flying fcuk if my booing would unsettle our precious players, because as far as I am concerned Arsenal is MY club and they are merely passing through - I will always do and say what I think is what is best for the club and hounding this French f.uck from our club will absolutely help our club.
On a side issue, how many players do ye think would be happy if wenker walked away/sacked ? Podolski is the obvious one, but I think BFG and ozil plus sanchez would be happy if he left. His loving father attitude might work for our younger pampered players, but any serious players who have a history of winning or who have aspirations to win trophies, would see clearly how gormless le c.unt is

There used to be a school of thought that Wenker leaving could mean us not having a crack at the best players. Now the overwhelming evidence is that Wenger remaining will see us lose Sanchez and Ozil. It also guarantees the likes of Reus and Khedira will come nowhere near this club.

Bould and Wenger had a full and frank argument, in front of the players after the match as well. That's from another club employee.

By the by anyone see these quotes from Rodgers when asked shout how safe his position was?

"I know the owners may decide a change is needed at any moment, such is the life of a manager at a big club. Last season is the past"

Wow. Just to recap, Brendan Rodgers last season achieved a league position Wenker has been unable to for 10 years.
He's been at Pool a few years only, has a wage bill much lower than Wenker, earns far less in wages and has a Yank boss living across the pond. There is one major, crucial difference: the Yank in charge of Pool cares about the fans thoughts and will sack Rodgers come end of the season.
Meanwhile at Farcenal FC, as much as Gazidis would love to sack Le Tool he is neutered because errr...oh yeah Le Clueless Specialist in Failure appointed him! Arsenal a big club? Seen better run sweet-shops...

Not encountered him before.

Would Bould and Wenger really have a full argument in front of the players as this guy claims?

This is one of the major issues with Arsenal as a club. We have a board and an owner, who don't give a shit about on-field success, only profits, no other team that claims to be a big club would have this mind-set . Also, any other team that wants to finish in the top 4, would see it as a stepping stone, but for us its the be all and end all, with no attempt to progress season on season. The fact we haven't been in the top two since '05 tells you all about what a joke this club has become.

Wenger has been living off past successes for the last 6 years
