Van Persie saga, officially not extending contract.

do you really think the club has any ambition to win trophies this season if they are prepared to sell RVP to Man United?
If you do then you must be the most deluded supporter I have ever encountered.

we have so far bought a fading german player, a reserve french player and some unknown spaniard.
and you think that shows ambition to win anything???? or do you consider a top 4 place worthy of a trophy?
I think there is a middle ground between you and 1989. Red your description of our summer buys is OTT but then so is 1989's excitement about them!!! We have strengthened but have we done enough to convince RVP? only he knows and compared to recent summers we have but we still have no 'blue ribbon' signings as such
Giroud, Podolski and Cazorla are fantastic signings by anyone's standard. They're as good as we could've hoped to sign this summer.

Why wouldn't you be excited? For once, we are actually spending money on quality players who are in their prime and ready to go. I'm absolutely buzzing mate. Whether RVP stays or goes we'll have a good team next year.

If he stays that would be the icing on the cake and I'd fancy us for a top two finish, particularly if we add a further signing or two (DM).

I think it's an exciting time to be a Gooner and most fans are similarly upbeat right now. RVP is doing his best to make us all depressed again and I hate him for that. If he's not impressed with our new signings then he can fuck right off.

Yes but to keep him we would need to spen that. I fail to see your argument on this point
My point is i want us to keep our best players and i dont care how the club does it, the end of year accounts and profits do not impress me

Agreed But Kroneke owns Arsenal and he will sell RVP to the Highest Bidder, if RVP is Sold to Man Utd that will confirm Arsenal's continued status as a Feeder Club :cussing:

As i said compared to previous summers we have done an amazing amount of business but still we lack 1 or 2 'world class' players. The players we have bought are good possibly very good who knows. Im pleased and id be even more pleased if we bought 3 more players in defensive positions but buzzing? No im not buzzing i was buzzing when we bought Bergkamp he WAS a top drawer signing

Im at work cant listen to them but if they rate him thats good but do they say Madrid and many other clubs were after him? I cant believe that for all the reasons RVP wants to leave we are a level below the major clubs like Madrid/Barca

We should not even contemplate selling him to that lot. £20m we would is not worth the humiliation of selling our captain and best player to a rival. The message we'd sent out would be horrendous.

Make him rot in the reserves if he doesn't like it. Then set Frimpong on him to do his glass legs in and watch his value depreciate as he turns 30 with a full head of grey hair. See if any fucker would be willing to offer him £200k a week wages then.

Yeh, there was a host of clubs after him. Madrid included. Sid Lowe also said the same.

He is a player of principle , and spoke to many ex arsenal players. He chose us.

To be fair - if he is on the bench for Spain I doubt he'd get in Barca's team. Even if they were after him he would be foolish to go and sit on the bench. Also - they have other areas they need to strengthen (Defence, DM etc...) so can't see him being top of their list (as they're not exactly flush) even if they were interested.

Madrid - hmmm seems they want a more rounded midfielder based on their reported targets. Cazorla appears to be more of an attacking midfielder and I think Madrid are pretty happy with their lot there.

That said - delighted he's with us :barscarf:

It seems some folk don't realise how good Cazorla is (or in RedWum's case, don't even know him). I still can't believe we actually got him. He's a £35m player whom due to Malaga's dire situation, we managed to nab at a bargain price. The guy is top drawer, wait till he plays his first game for us.

Red

In the space of a year your opinion seems to have shifted from far-left to far-right, if the use of a political analogy is apt. I'm afraid though that the two highlighted comments display a level of ignorance, or trolling, that I feel I must counter.

Podolski scored 18 league goals for a team which was relegated, hardly fair to label him 'fading'. As for the Cazorla remark, I can only assume you've never seen him play, or that you do not watch any football other than the prem.

As for Giroud, well he looked good for Montpellier but I can't argue with your description. We have though, a tradition of signing reserve French players, most of whom progress to a decent level (Wiltord, Nasri, Koscielny to name a few).

We do not know if any of these will be good players, but then you never know if ANY player will be a success, only time will tell but please don't just type the first knee-jerk description that comes into your head.

I would've agreed with your descriptions if we had signed Sebastian Deisler, Sidney Govou and Juan Carlos Valeron, but we haven't.

Exactly right. We could have a huge star.
