THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I think it's part of the cycle.

I too went through the 'change' phase thinking arsene would find a thread of humility and reflect.
it's just a delusionary phase which you see in relationships, people don't change easily.

As stated above journalists are afraid of losing ,not just the perks, but also the sources. I hated jack Charlton when he was Ireland manager, got me in so many fights in work etc. One of his biggest arse lickers in the media was a guy called Cathal Dervan . Dervan was on a radio phone in one night so I rang in and had a go at him saying Charlton was succeeding in fooling people because journalists were falling over themselves to praise him. His reply was not to deny it, he almost agreed with me, saying he and the rest of the media were afraid to ask real questions because they would be blacklisted .

I agree about Ian Wright - you could almost feel him bursting by wanting to say Wenger Out but having to hold back because of his position at the BBC. But he wants him gone, no doubt about it.
I've felt this for a while now but the problem is nobody wants to be the first.

When one does then there will be a cascade. Robson doesn't count because he's "got a grudge".
and Merson too...

for me, if smudger turns then the rest of them - winter, lawrence, lofty etc will.

Brendan Rodgers is getting crucified !!!
Perhaps rightly so but le genius gets nothing.
Even pelligrini gets slated for being 2nd and the champions league results but wenger's arsenal in the first few seasons struggled.
The media for some reason cut him so much slack

And to think he could have left in the summer on somewhat of a high with at least some dignity and an FA Cup.
But no, his greed, arrogance and ginormous ego got the better of him.

I still believe that if more of us had protested on the stands and outside the grounds BEFORE he signed his greedy, big fat new deal then he might well be gone by now. The protests and the anti Wenger sentiment we see rising and growing now while welcome is a bit like closing the gate after the horse has bolted unfortunately.

It would have been so much easier to get shot of him before he signed his new deal. If we had of done more back then I really think he'd have stepped down FA Cup or not.

but wasn't the problem they agreed the contract before the season had finished. Gazidis said as much in April? was it!

It just wasn't signed.

And still haven't worked out how to win it, despite 17 seasons in the competition.

If we had done more last year then he'd never have agreed to stay in April. He was supposed to have his position sorted by the 1st of January and it didnt happen. The fact is that gooners sat on their hands and did fuck all to "persuade" him not to renew.

Now we are suffering because of our failure to take back ownership of our own club.

Mixed in with his racist, and anti-sematic comments, he mentioned breaking his leg in the FA cup final, don't know if anyone has heard that story before :)

look at the difference in attitude - Rodgers - "its all down to me....." - wonga - " we were unlucky, we should have won..."

i hope FSG support Rodgers, last year they overachieved and they have been unlucky to lose Sturridge.

but back to your point - they're all on the brink , wrighty said "its getting close to it" he's not far away and has the least to lose because he will always be loved by the fans for ever because he was brilliant and slightly mental.

Also the last thing we need is for Klopp to go to the victims instead of us - he is a good coach/manager...and could turn ANY club and team around very quickly.

Not just Ozil - but the rest of the team would be Totally revitalised and different - They would have someone who knows tactics, man management and how to adapt from game to game - also he takes no egotistic, namby pamby bullshyte from the players....

What Ian Wright said earlier on the Radio, he as good as says he wants Wenger to go:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/30180269

Arsenal would be "mid-table" without Alexis Sanchez, says former Gunners striker Ian Wright.

But even with the Chile striker, Wright has questioned whether Arsenal can claim a top-four Premier League finish to qualify for the Champions League.

Arsenal are currently eighth and two points behind fourth-placed Manchester United, who beat them on Saturday.

"If it wasn't for Sanchez, where would they be now?" said Wright on the BBC Radio 5 live 606 show he co-presents.

"They are mid-table without Alexis Sanchez."

Sanchez was signed for £35m from Barcelona last summer and has scored 12 goals in 19 games for his new club so far this season.

But the north London club have lost three of their last seven league games - winning just two and drawing two - as they have made their worst start to a season in 32 years.

"I can't see Arsenal getting in the top four at the moment," said Wright.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is coming under increasing pressure, with some fans booing his side after their defeat by United last weekend.

When asked whether the 65-year-old Frenchman should go, Wright said: "It's very frustrating. It's getting to that time now."

Ivan beginning to ask the questions.
I'd like to see Wenker turn around and tell Usmsnov after his criticism that "he hasn't worked half a day in football"
Le Nob wouldn't dare say that Usmanov, he saves such ire for the wee little Arsenal unwashed peasantry eh? Coward.
