With Arteta out until the beginning of Feb (at the earliest), who thinks that Wenger will dip into the market?

John Cross said that he pressed Wenger hard in the conference (I bet) and that he assures us he "is working hard to strengthen".
Can someone tell me the hard part in identifying players better than the shower on display this season and how hard it is agree a fee for that player. Strange how every other club manages it without a song and dance

The man said a few days ago our squad is "complete". He's a fucking lunatic.

heard today that roma have offered us the Dutch no1 keeper Martin Steklenburg for as little as £3.5M but we said no!
i think thats crazy seeing as chesney has no real competition, and is far from the complete package!

Madness. Diaby and Santos will earn that this season in wages.

What would be the point? He'd only sign some more shit and pay them stupid sums before playing them out of position for months on end before loaning them out.

I think that's part of the reason why I feel even more pissed off than normal. Even though I always suspected the only players we might sign would be Henry on loan and possibly Zaha, I now think that another set of desperate results against Swansea, Chelsea and the Mickeys might provoke him into doing what he did in the Summer of 2011 i.e. a mad supermarket trolley dash buying up everything from the bargain bucket, saddling us with another load of old shit like Mertesacker, Park and whoever Chelsea want to farm out on loan
I always used to retain the little dying flicker of hope that he might just wake from the slumber of the past 5 years and sign one or two players that might make a difference. That little hope has disappeared and I would actually now rather that he doesn't sign more embarrassing shite, but when I see him linked with these clowns from the likes of Toulouse I fear that there'll be another €20m of so spunked away whilst the last remaining odd bit of quality like Sagna gets neglected and eventually flogged too

Realistic targets that would improve our squad? I'd pick up Dzeko and Lescott from City, both players would not need much persuading and we could give them a fine wage. Dzeko would fill the role Le Chapman was mean to fill, but is not good enough to fill. His dribbling, heading, positional sense and link-up play are far superior to our French cart-horse. He will score sweaty goals even when he is playing shit (a trait that wins you titles). Lescott is a player that you'd need to partner with a speedster, but i'm sure he'd go a long way to helping our defence (under a new manager) and give us some stability with set-pieces.
Fellaini is the b2b partner Wilshere deserves, and we should have bought Caesar.

Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night...
(Dylan Thomas)
