THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Wenger's subs were spot on tonight.
No doubt he will get criticised - probably for his choice of coat - but he acted decisively.

WENGER OUT NOW! :barscarf:

He failed when having his ` best ever squad` which included Eboue / Denilson etcc so how the hell can he win the league nowadays ?

Seem to recall we were in ` A two horse race` for the title but ended coming 4th :barscarf: perhaps that is the title challenge he meant ?

it must be heaven working for an AKB, as they are so easily pleased -

"yeah sorry boss, not coming in today - i'm a little bit jaded",

"i'm sorry boss i didn't hire anyone - there was no one of super quality",

"oh boss, you know that accountant we desparately needed to hire ? - well, i got you another plumber, can i have a pay rise ?",

" boss, i won't be in while you're on holiday....yeah, I got another paid job somewhere else while you're away, neat huh ? "

" yes i did say i'd grow the business last year, but i definitely will this year, or next year...."

"yes i know our financial results have been poor, but we did show mentality and belief this year ...."

"boss, can you increase my wages 60% every three years while i do less and less work to scrape by with the bare minimum, thanks"

Owen Coyle on 5 live Sport

Greedy Gooners?

"It's all very well for people to want Arsene Wenger to leave, but who will Arsenal get in who is better?
"I'm a great admirer of what he's done there over the years, but you have to give credit to the other clubs for getting better as well."

Well that's us told then

Yawn!

Arsenal 3 wins 3 clean sheets since Manchester United defeat. I think this has proven Wenger is the right man for Arsenal, they still have a long way to go but they need luck with injuries and if they get that next season they can make a serious title push. The great thing about Wenger is that I don't think any manager responds to criticism better than him as soon as it looks like he will be sacked he brings a great response (in terms of results), I don't think even managers such as: Guardiola,Mourinho or Ancelotti could turn it around that quickly after major criticism from supporters. Wenger has not spent like Van Gaal, Mourinho or Pellegrini have so why should Arsenal finish any higher than fourth and why should Wenger be doing any better than he is?

clockender1 wrote:you guys are way off, i've been thinking about it and the problem is obviously the stadium - its sold out every week, and we have 40,000 on the ST waiting list, its clearly not big enough to bring us success.

thats why we can't compete - if those 40,000 fans could see us every week, we could drop ticket prices to 50 quid (which always happens when you build a new bigger stadium by borrowing money rather than investing your own in the club...) and with 25 or so home games thats an extra 50 million a year plus whatever they spend on matchday magazines, food and drink, and in the armoury. if each fan only spends 20 quid a game thats another 20 mill , so we are missing out on 70 million a year.

so i think we need to leave the Emirates and build a 100,000 seater stadium so we can compete with Southampton, Swansea and West Ham.

Anyone up for starting a Petition ?

The board, major shareholders / owners & indeed manager at The Arsenal are worse liars & thieves than the politicians at Westminster. :barscarf:

to be fair on this the club did only say some tickets and they do still honour this promise many years later. All lower tier Carling Cup games are £10 up to and including the semi finals.

I'm positive Robert would swap his league titles for a crack at a final day 4th place trophy.
