SUMMER TRANSFERS - Your thoughts on who did and did not sign

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I dunno whats happening in Serie A. I guess the clubs are going the same way as Holland, becoming feeder clubs. I can see AW being interested being how young he is.
He would be IDEAL!!

God we are so bloody slow in transfer market and still going for bargain defenders. United table a 17 Million bid for a player whos class is like Vidic and we bid 5 Million for a defender who I guess is a replacement for Squallichi.
Now I am not a transfer genius but if I was up against the money power of United, City and Chelsea I would pay that little extra to get my targets early before my rivals snap them up.
Considering we have also won nothing for 8 years it would be a very clever surprise to actually change how you act in the said market to surprise your rivals.
HELL NO lets just wait and get cheap players and pay them loads of money then they get injured or dont actually make it to the required level.
Its been the case for quite a while now and I think has brought back some of the boring tag we used to have or at least Groundhog day. Not saying City are right in fact I think they will always be a classless club but we are Arsenal for god sake.

I recall a few seasons back, back as far as when Real Madrid were interested in Wenger.
He let it be known then he had no interest in going there and spending huge sums on bringing in more galacticos.
If they wanted him, he told them he would look at the younger players to develop to his philosophy and it would take 3 years before they would be competitive enough for trophies.
I would find it hard to believe he has changed enough to make a major overall to our squad.
That is why, and Kevin Whitcher touched on this, all the big talk from Gazidis about spending is to put the onus firmly on Wenger to make some big calls in the transfer market, 'hanging out to dry' is how KW put it.
I can't wait to hear Wenger's response to that, he has been very quiet lately.
Still think he will buy/sign more cheap prospects than established quality players, and still very much against.

I see Myles is at it again, now saying that Fellaini has signed a 5 year contract with us and the Cesc deal is off.

As predicted, Fabregas doesn't want to leave Barcelona and it's highly likely that they wouldn't want to let him go in any event. All conveniently overlooked for a good story!

And the transfer method repeats itself.
If at first you don't succeed, try, try and try again and again and again and again and again and again and again until you finally realize that your ideas were wrong from the start.

Probably for the same reason that many of us on this site want him out of the club - because he won't splash the cash to buy what is needed.

I am resigned to us buying nobody of note and the usual excuses coming out while our alleged targets are snapped up by other teams that we moved to the Emirates to compete with.

Hopefully I will be pleasantly surprised and he will bury a habit of the past 10 years. Tis why I posted that free French transfer a couple of pages ago despite Sky not linking us with him - I think that is what he is going to end up buying rather than players like Fellani.
