The Summer 2014 TRANSFER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Matic never really played much for them though while Vela had opportunities and failed, get what you are saying about improving as you only have to look at Ramsey who will always be that counter argument now.

Arsenal are ready to offer £5m for Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina. Napoli, where he spent last season on loan, have not made a bid for the 31-year-old. Metro

The Gunners are looking to appease fans unhappy at missing out on re-signing Cesc Fabregas, who has moved from Barcelona to Chelsea, by making a move for 21-year-old defender Bressan from Brazilian side Gremio. Daily Express

Manager Arsene Wenger is also closing in on a deal to bring 25-year-old Real Sociedad striker Carlos Vela back to Arsenal with the Gunners set to activate a £3.5m buyout clause. The Sun

Liverpool are hoping they can win the race for Schalke's £8m-rated Max Meyer, 18, ahead of Arsenal and Chelsea

Only one of these four are coming.

Former England and Tottenham midfielder David Bentley, who was released by Spurs 12 months ago, has retired. The Sun

I fully expect to see him training at London Colney soon, followed up by quotes about him being an 'Arsenal boy', a deadline day signing and a smug comment along the lines of "I'm sorry he didn't cost £20m"

Come on Arsene, tempt him out of retirement and make all our dreams come true

Well if he gets Abou fit and firing we just saved ourselves £30m that would have been wasted on the inferior Fabregas !

Reina isn't a bad signing as back up. The other 2,least said the better. The Neville Chamberlain bit was no doubt added by the journo.
