do you think the fact that Arsenal have over achieved this year (by winning the FA Cup) has led to greater expectations by supporters and this is why we are seeing so much anger?

*we are actually 2 points better off at this stage of the season than 2 years ago.
So we should accept Stoke beating us every season? The relaity is, the anger over this result, is because of the amount of shit performances, and results this season. I thought Wenger should have went a few years ago, but i could at least respect that we would play quality football, that is no longer the case. Also, I get the feeling that the players are no longer motivated by him anymore. Any player who has been at the club for more than a year knows that we wont challenge for the title under him, and i think they are dis-interested by another battle for 4th. Apart from beating an already qualified Dortmund, can anyone point to a good performance by us this season?

Personally I feel sure that the only way that Wenger will go before 3 years is up, if even he goes then will be if current as well as former players, colleagues and staff get round him and tell him his time is up. Some like Wrighty have changed their mind but theres an awful lot who are firmly and embarassingly pro. Especially embarrassing seeing how poor we are performing especially defensively- how ANY former defender at The Arsenal cannot see the problems down to the manager is beyond me.

Quartz mentions a bubble round the team, that is so true, and the endless drivel from the website, repeatedly managed AGMs, sychophantic banners round the stadium, as well as the way the club "support" the TV station, some bloggers all show how utterly desperate those running the set up are for the status quo.

It was I think last year that Bob "be careful what you wish for" Wilson was used by the club to get those players with over 200 (May have been 100) caps furthur prominance/ perks at the club they represented, and the way that Wilson has been used over time is truly poor, so no real wonder he(as well as the other players impressed with the perks) are pro. It was earlier this season that the Fairs cup winners were lauded by the current set up too, though of course they wernt allowed too near the fans or the pitch. Similar happenings with statues too I realise, none of those players will be anti the current establishment will they?

The using of former players is reminiscent of the way that the set up play the fans groups too- infamous Jabba taunts, ATV access to club "help" for bloggers and those that nobly support the current set up.

Afraid its going to get ugly, theres no other way with a dictatorial set up- no dictator meekly leaves, none. Their demise is usually a result of an underestimation of the opposition to them.

As the bubble is so firmly constructed, access so hard the only way is banners marches taunts 5live talk sport and other radio/ media phone ins, ambushes of the players, open letters etc. Thats going to get worse each time we mess up.

The dictator though has indeed underestimated the importance of fans to a team, its quite different to inhabitants of a land in that many can leave the promised land, many fans AFC is their life, almost an addiction, thats maybe why threatening the status quo is so uncomfortable to many fans. The club though underestimate how angry many supporters increasingly are, the genie may temporarily go into a box, but the box will not go away.

At least Arseblog has seen it this time, though that genie returns to the box so very fast

http://arseblog.com/2014/12/stoke-3-2-a ... miliation/

Its time that those who truly can affect AWs descision to leave step up to the plate. Cowardice may live in the team but not in many former players surely :rubchin:

great post Theoperator

the one problem I see is this - one by one the real fans are not taking their place in the stadium and their seats taken by the new zombified tourist supporters, who are there to buy clothes with Arsenal logo's on, buy expensive hot dogs and take photos of the match.

When I went to the Southampton match last week I left feeling quite depressed (despite the win) because I thought that there was no way Wenger was going to walk away and could be here for as long as he likes.

The bottom line is this - he is too good a manager to really fail. the consecutive top 4 finishes might be boring but he never really fails does he?

And we will finish 4th again this season. As badly as we are playing the league is fucking appalling and we have enough decent players who will club together and turn it on for one prolonged run in the second half of the season, which in this league is going to be enough.

Chelsea and City 1 and 2, even factoring in United (who are gash) 3rd who the fuck else is going to finish there? Liverpool and Spurs have been even worse than us. Southampton have to play United (twice), us, Chelsea, Everton and then Newcastle away in their next 8 games, they will sink like a stone. West Ham? Don't be silly. We will be there at the end of the season and part of Wenger's spell is that he makes 4th seem like some sort of achievement by virtue of how awfully we have started the last few seasons (except last year).

No never fails for the plc Rob, thats the point as you correctly identify. Worst is the scrabble to the top 4 that gives Steve_O a pint of fun. Leaves the fans with a thank goodness moment and hides the truth for another year.

I never understand the over egged photos/ iphone pics either, but TBH Rob, I have a photo of a punchout by Pat Jennings that hit Malcolm MAcdonald on the head from the 1970s, so some twits were taking pics then

As for the hot dog Again, Im afraid I still buy my Bovril, as do my kids, its not any more pricy at other grounds, and gives me a feeling that I had as a kid watching with my old man in the 70s

I think some points have been raised here on these last few pages…. Regardless of the differences we may each have on how and when we want Wenger to depart our Club, we do have a Common Goal – The Departure of Arsene Wenger from our Club – we all have different abilities - so maybe we can combine our different strengths etc and achieve Our Common Goal.

Some people may be very good at writing concise, precise prose. Perhaps if they could compile a number of Letter Template’s on here that list eloquently, yet firmly the reasons we want Wenger to depart – That we can all use (simply Cut & Paste and sign their name at the bottom)

Some people be very good at making banners

Some able to get hand-outs printed, but not feel so confident about actually handing them out, not everyone can attend the games - maybe they can phone the radio stations etc....Listing the Reasons Why? he must Leave.

Some have very good IT skills, and can design Hand outs or small posters – that without being abusive can still get across Our Message – Maybe in a ‘witty’ way, or in a way that cuts to the core?

IE: we all have various abilities and strengths, so let’s combine and employ those different abilities and strengths – at least then we cannot blame one another – or say I did this whilst everyone sat back and did sweet FA.

It would also be a another way of showing solidarity AND maybe reduce the in-fighting – that we are all tempted to get into – because we ALL feel the same frustrations – because we have someone managing the team who is not up to the job, besides the fact we have an owner who not only has not and does not invest in the club, but by geographically distancing himself from the club thinks he is out of reach and cannot be named and shamed (not that ‘shame’ is in his lexicon)

This is where we can use the internet and social media to (try and) embarrass him into changing how he is overseeing the club and those that run it.

The Sport’s Writer / Journalist Henry Winter recently wrote a very good piece on Wenger’s failings listing some of the reasons he is being criticised by the fans.

It would be very easy to use some of those very pertinent points in a letter to Wenger/ The Club.
But Quartz is right – we need to use all means at our disposal – Twitter/Facebook/E-mails, Letters – Banners/Hand-outs…
But we need to bombard the club with them – to the point of saturation, so they realise that we are Not Going Away and Something Has To Be Done.

It is up to US, if we really want change, we can ensure it happens – As someone bright spark once said:

“Be The Change You Want To See Happen”

We Can Achieve This. Enough IS Enough. I Want My Arsenal Back – Do You?

ps: I am more than willing to do whatever I can to see this happen

(I also put this on the Anti-Wenger Protest Thread)

Wenger getting abuse is exactly what is needed to get the *word censored* out. Lineker etc have an agenda and we need to ensure this pressure is kept on the manager till he is gone.

Look we’re all frustrated and I know at times like this we say things we don’t mean but these mentions of Wenger and Hitler in the same sentence are just going a step too far. I’m not easily offended but there is still a limit to what is and isn't acceptable. Seriously guys, has Hitler not been demonised enough over the past 75 years without having to put up with this?
