Saka isn’t as good as he thinks he is. Mentally goes missing when it matters.
Maybe, but in fairness he has been carrying a load of supposed senior pros and was due a bad spell. Just don't think it's a priority position given all those options

Compare to RB, where we play a converted CB because our supposed first choice is either always injured or just pure shite! Or CB, where a 21 year old gets injured and they crumble like shit and we have Holding in! Or CM where inexplicably Clive and Shit for Brains Partey are first choices

A winger would be a luxury on top of sorting those positions out first
Pretty certain we are after a winger.
The fact we don't need one probably means you're right. Arteta won't rest until we've got about 8 of them and spend the next few years loaning most of them out !
Pepe is surplus. Nelson off. Martinelli, Saka, Trossard. Not sure we have enough wingers tbh.

I'd love to know why anyone thinks we need to sign a winger

Probably the position we least need a player

If we don't get a proper right back, 2 CBs and 2 CMs, next season is dead before it begins

As for wingers - Martinelli, Saka, Trossard, Nelson, Pepe and he's even played Smith Rowe or Vieira there FFS. How many do we bloody need!!
We don't need Pepe, I can tell you that, or Viera for that matter 😉

You're right though, CB's, midfielders (defensive one's) and a van Persie, Henry type striker who will get you 20+ goals and win us the league. We always seem to fixate on wingers and small midfielders. You think we have wingers, and we do, but count the lightweight midfielders. And he added the unused Jorghino to the bunch.
For all the shit we've given Pepe - and fuck me he's a braindead c.unt at times - he did more in his first season despite the price tag, than fucking Vieira. What a waste of space he is

Retro described Pepe to me once and it was so spot on, not as a player, but the man himself. Cannot repeat it on here.

He reminded me a bit of Gervinho (remember him) used to go on these mazy, solo runs.....always down a blind alley until he lost the ball. He also always looked so vacant, like a dog who was about to be given a bath.

Dear God, some of the players we've had.....you cannot help laughing when you think about them.

Some of the posters on here remind me of past players.

You get the Pepes. Dozy so and sos that consistently run down blind alleys with their arguments.
There are the Xhakas. Hyper aggressive over-confident narcissist Walter Mitty characters. Pointing at people all day and making snide challenges instead of just playing the ball.
And finally we have the Tony Adamses. People who want to win. Tell it how it is if we’re not good enough. Strong in the tackle and can take it back with a laugh.
Too many Xhakas on here at the moment though.

Remember Xhaka always eventually does something so stupid he ends up with a ban so I wonder who is going to follow the pathway of the great Red Member, US Martin, Babatunde and Monostich :D

Xhaka certainly started the slide. Then Partey, Gabriel, Saka and Ramsdale chipped in as the rest of the side wilted around them.

Worthy of a celebration BBQ my friend - almost up there when I heard the news that THOF was finally slinging his hook.

I fear it won't happen though!

Just 8 more appearances to go before he makes 300 for the club :D

If he stays next season we can look forward to him overtaking John Lukic, Cesc Fabregas, Liam Brady, George Graham, Bob Wilson, Pat Jennings and Freddie Ljungberg on the list of club legends in appearance order

Fucking shame on Wenger, Emery and Arteta for allowing that to happen. Just read that fucking list and weep

When I saw an audience with David ‘O Leary he told us that Xhaka is eyeing his appearance record. Will take him until he’s about 45 though.

#AFC | Charlie Patino set to leave Arsenal permanently this summer. 19yo wants regular 1st team action

Club receptive & ready to help facilitate, as interest builds from UK/abroad

Amazing how very few of these super kids actually make it. Saka has bucked the trend of the past 15 years. Since Ashley Cole, only he and Wilshere have had any serious impact. We nicked a few off other clubs like Cesc, but there's a long long list of those that don't make it. Balogun and Patino were supposed to be the next big things but seems like neither will be here next season

I think he has 2 years left and we will put a buy back and sell on clause in to it. No idea who is interested in him.

So a question for those who would have far more knowledge on the kid than I do, is he over-hyped and not good enough, or is he good enough and smart enough to know he isnt gonna get a chance with us ? I'll be honest and say that I am a fan who is borderline obsessive about the club giving our best academy players a proper chance before bringing in players from outside, and I suppose it goes back to the 70s and 80s when we brought through so many players. Of course the players have to be good enough to justify game time, but for me bringing through young players saves us money in transfer fee's (money we dont have enough of), and it provides of core players who have come through the ranks and know what the club is all about and have a hunger to succeed.
In recent seasons there has been a lot of talk about patino and I assumed he was a sure thing, but maybe his development has stalled or maybe the current manager doesnt believe in him (every manager has their own ideas) - I will be gutted if he goes elsewhere and becomes a star, so am curious to know whether the fans believe in him now or not
