#AFC | Charlie Patino set to leave Arsenal permanently this summer. 19yo wants regular 1st team action

Club receptive & ready to help facilitate, as interest builds from UK/abroad

Via @David_Ornstein and twitter
Amazing how very few of these super kids actually make it. Saka has bucked the trend of the past 15 years. Since Ashley Cole, only he and Wilshere have had any serious impact. We nicked a few off other clubs like Cesc, but there's a long long list of those that don't make it. Balogun and Patino were supposed to be the next big things but seems like neither will be here next season

So a question for those who would have far more knowledge on the kid than I do, is he over-hyped and not good enough, or is he good enough and smart enough to know he isnt gonna get a chance with us ? I'll be honest and say that I am a fan who is borderline obsessive about the club giving our best academy players a proper chance before bringing in players from outside, and I suppose it goes back to the 70s and 80s when we brought through so many players. Of course the players have to be good enough to justify game time, but for me bringing through young players saves us money in transfer fee's (money we dont have enough of), and it provides of core players who have come through the ranks and know what the club is all about and have a hunger to succeed.
In recent seasons there has been a lot of talk about patino and I assumed he was a sure thing, but maybe his development has stalled or maybe the current manager doesnt believe in him (every manager has their own ideas) - I will be gutted if he goes elsewhere and becomes a star, so am curious to know whether the fans believe in him now or not
Is he ready for the first team next season ? No.

Could he have been a squad member and played in carabou cup matches and the like then, in my opinion, yes.

I’ve watched lots of his clips of Blackpool matches, although not big build, by any stretch of the imagination, he gets stuck into tackles , he does posses the ability to read the game well, and the knack of being in the right place to pinch a ball away from the opposition.

He has obviously enjoyed having game time and feels that playing regularly would be better for him than our bench or another loan move, ( if the reports from Mcd’s trusted twitter source are true 😉 )

If the club are happy enough to facilitate a move then maybe they are confident that Rice and Caciedo ( or other alternatives ) are likely to happen.

Not sure what kind of price is fair £10m or so - he has real potential.

Thanks for that Stuart - if he has real potential then selling him is a total no no in my book - I cannot stress enough how opposed to signing declan rice I am cos he is bog average imo

Patino has far more about him than the cocktail stick (Vieira)... I predict that Vieira will be sold or let go in the Summer of 2024....That's how much potential he has. Charlie Patino is of a similar physical build, yes BUT he doesn't shirk tackles, he has great (quick) feet & close control and he can really pick a pass.

They should get shot of Vieira and give young Charlie a chance.

Haven't we spunked something like €35m on that 8 stone prick and ribs weakling? Patino would have to be some sort of Jimmy Somerville meets Andy Bell figure to have less physical strength than old celery boy

I'll have you know Vieira can bench press a cornflakes box (full) 50 times now after training in the gym 4 times a week. The guy could maybe be pressing a bag of sugar this time next season. :barscarf:

If we are really hellbent on signing a winger (another one FFS :banghead: :banghead: ), then just go and get Zaha from Palace on a free. We've been linked with him more times than Loic Remy and Benzema FFS, and he's going for a free now

Yes he's a diving c.unt, a miserable fucker too, but in the right team he's a player - strong, direct and proven in this league. Not a first choice but if you had him as one of the backups to Martinelli and Saka, and also gives us a different physical presence, I don't see what's not to like....especially on a 'free'. That's that position well and truly done and dusted, and we can fix more pressing priorities such as RB, CB and CDM

There have been quite a few rumours that Walker will be leaving City - if that's the case, go and get him too. Infinitely better than the injury prone weakling we have there, and will relieve White of that responsibility for every game.

Those two have done it in this league time and time again - home grown from a CL squad perspective too.

Rice and Caceido - if those two really are the big money solutions - then we have four players who have all done it in this league. No transition period. No skinny little turds who melt on the spot. Four physical units who know this league inside out. Then I might consider it worthwhile us qualifying for the CL rather than praying we drop back into the EL after the group stage

And there's Add Ons of about £4million - I just dunno maybe he's got a Twin brother who looks the same but is actually a very decent player? :?

I remember that player who said he was George Weah's cousin and fooled Souness into playing him for Southampton. Vierra probably has the same agent.

Yeah! I vaguely remember something about that they hooked him after 20 minutes or so didn't they? For some reason I was it was "Arry" the spin...

Vieira is due to be on the weights this summer. Aim is for him to be able to bench press a particularly long strand of uncooked spaghetti with 5 poppadoms on each end. This it is hoped will allow him to hold his own with the under 9s.
