Is he ready for the first team next season ? No.augie wrote: ↑Mon May 01, 2023 12:42 pmSteveO 35 wrote: ↑Mon May 01, 2023 11:17 amAmazing how very few of these super kids actually make it. Saka has bucked the trend of the past 15 years. Since Ashley Cole, only he and Wilshere have had any serious impact. We nicked a few off other clubs like Cesc, but there's a long long list of those that don't make it. Balogun and Patino were supposed to be the next big things but seems like neither will be here next seasonmcdowell42 wrote: ↑Mon May 01, 2023 10:59 am#AFC | Charlie Patino set to leave Arsenal permanently this summer. 19yo wants regular 1st team action
Club receptive & ready to help facilitate, as interest builds from UK/abroad

So a question for those who would have far more knowledge on the kid than I do, is he over-hyped and not good enough, or is he good enough and smart enough to know he isnt gonna get a chance with us ? I'll be honest and say that I am a fan who is borderline obsessive about the club giving our best academy players a proper chance before bringing in players from outside, and I suppose it goes back to the 70s and 80s when we brought through so many players. Of course the players have to be good enough to justify game time, but for me bringing through young players saves us money in transfer fee's (money we dont have enough of), and it provides of core players who have come through the ranks and know what the club is all about and have a hunger to succeed.
In recent seasons there has been a lot of talk about patino and I assumed he was a sure thing, but maybe his development has stalled or maybe the current manager doesnt believe in him (every manager has their own ideas) - I will be gutted if he goes elsewhere and becomes a star, so am curious to know whether the fans believe in him now or not
Could he have been a squad member and played in carabou cup matches and the like then, in my opinion, yes.
I’ve watched lots of his clips of Blackpool matches, although not big build, by any stretch of the imagination, he gets stuck into tackles , he does posses the ability to read the game well, and the knack of being in the right place to pinch a ball away from the opposition.
He has obviously enjoyed having game time and feels that playing regularly would be better for him than our bench or another loan move, ( if the reports from Mcd’s trusted twitter source are true
If the club are happy enough to facilitate a move then maybe they are confident that Rice and Caciedo ( or other alternatives ) are likely to happen.
Not sure what kind of price is fair £10m or so - he has real potential.
