Groundhog summer transfer window thread

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Arsenal will make a last-ditch effort to buy Schalke's 20-year-old midfielder Julian Draxler now rather than risk getting caught up in a summer bidding war.

I dont understand the "last ditch" part tbh - by normal standards there is 8 days left in the transfer window but we usually do our business at the last minute so we def aint panicing yet

And of course he's just what we need - another attacking midfielder.

You'd need to work in football for 30 years to understand that.

There's Only One might end up having spent £70m+ this season and all of it on two midfielders. What a legend

He may have been under the impression that Baba Diawara was going to play and thought it was worth a gamble, what with a still unsold stack of Diawara shirts in the club shop?

“It looks unlikely that we will sign anyone. We are not close to anything,”

“I feel a bit guilty going to a press conference during the transfer market with nobody to announce but I don’t want to lie.

“If something exceptional turns up of course we will do it.”

Wenger says Arsenal are "unlikely" to do any business in the January transfer window. "At the moment, we are not close to signing anybody."

The only thing we will sign in January is a dud manager to a bumper new contract. I hate myself :banghead:

Utterly depressing. There are days when I'm optimistic and I think maybe, just maybe, things are finally about to change at the club we all love. And then there are days like today, where the bleak harsh reality comes crashing down around my fcuking ears. :(
