SteveO - Flash isn't calling BabaIkechukwu1 ascummer because he is "critical" of Arsenal. That's bollocks. Read his posts. There is real hatred of Arsenal there. He hardly ever (if ever) posts after we win, is on here like a light when we lose. He never has anything positive to say about the club (unless called out on it, and then it's "I was this I was that back when"). Even negative fuckers like you and augie and sid can bring yourselves to praise certain things like a good win or a good goal. Then look at his terminology - it is mostly "Arsenal" or "they" it very seldom is "us".
Re: THE WENGER THREAD
Can it not be the case that he feels so alienated and disenfranchised from the wenger arsenal that he no longer feels part of it anymore?
Its complicated and difficult being a gooner these past few years and there certaintly isnt a one size fits all way to cope with our emotions.
I have never felt so far removed from the club as I do these days and its down to Wenger why I dont get the same enjoyment any more.
We are entitled to feel angry that Wenger has spoiled it for us and we are entitled to vent.

Of course mate, I too feel disconnected from the club and have relinquished my membership in addition to a self-imposed boycott of matches since 2012.armchair wrote:Can it not be the case that he feels so alienated and disenfranchised from the wenger arsenal that he no longer feels part of it anymore?

But if you cannot derive any enjoyment from supporting Arsenal because of such hatred for one man – a man who will eventually leave – then surely it’s time to have a serious think as to whether it’s all worth the hassle?

isn't that what we also did when we took Millwall's Manager in 1986 ?
also to suggest that Wenger = success at Arsenal, is simply not true - look at the five years before he arrived :
2 4th place finishes and a 5th,
2 domestic cups
1 ECWC win
1 ECWC runners up (spit)
and with wenger, i always come back to same thing - at 8 million a year, and with the wage bill and talent we have, is he value for money ? - I say not. he is clearly not adept at building a balanced squad nor getting the best out of it.
only cowardice is holding us back. roll the dice i say. if we miss the CL this year as i predict, what will we have to lose ????
“No sympathy for the devil; keep that in mind. Buy the ticket, take the ride...and if it occasionally gets a little heavier than what you had in mind, well...maybe chalk it off to forced conscious expansion: Tune in, freak out, get beaten.”
Perhaps we could do a skit and call it Fear and Loathing at The Bowl

enjoy Babagoals. It's that type of slip that exposes trolls/wums/scum on here. What Gooner doesn't know we only conceded 18 that season?

Intelligent reasoning. Not one person has produced a shred of evidence for this claim. I repeat that yes I've come to the stage that Wenger has supplanted my love for the club. Maybe you're right and when it gets to that stage it's time to pack up. Oh and go back and read my posts from about a week ago when I talk about replacements for Wenger and I consistently use "we"

Love the way this Coucil of the Sages happen to know everything about someone's support, that's amazing. You "regulars" should go earn extra cash on "Pointless" quiz show, you know it all right?
Like I said. I'm a Gooner from way back, went to school in islington, live in Highgate. I'm more local than three quarters of the sages here

Re: THE WENGER THREAD
I'm with armchair on the whole baba debate - I'm not saying that he isn't a troll/wum (frankly I don't give a shit at the mo) but to hold all of us to a certain standard to be certified a Gooner isn't fair imo. I have NEVER felt so disconnected with the club as I do now and the prohibiting of banners and getting the protest march blocked, has taken the level of disconnect to a whole new level
No victory or goal is anywhere near as enjoyable as it once was, and no defeat hurts anywhere near as much either - if you told me 5 years ago that I would be very meh about manure turning us over at the grove, I would have said that you were insane but just a few short weeks ago that very thing happened
In my opinion we have a situation which is far, far worse than any other club has suffered - we all bemoan the fact that we are now customers and not fans, but the level of contempt shown to us from OUR club is staggering even in todays football world. When manure fans are unhappy they protest vocally and the same applies to the scousers and even the geordies who frequently displayed banners wanting pardew out during the games - if our club gets a whisper of Gooners planning anything even vaguely along those lines they clamp down in a way that would embarrassed the creators of communism. If fans of other clubs are unhappy then they stand together to protest instead of having factions within the fanbase many of whom are scared to oppose the club
Anyway back on point, I think that to properly enjoy a Gooner victory again I would need to see a managerial change bringing a fresh impetus into the club and unite Gooners everywhere instead of having us at each others throats all the time - if not enjoying victories in the current climate makes me a non Gooner then label me that

Re: THE WENGER THREAD
Augie speaks sense. I repeat: I'm not a Spud. I also admit I'm definitely the most negative Gooner you'll ever come across. I put this down to a simple fact: I loved everything about this club up until 2006. It was after that CL final that I realised, the club no longer gave a shit about winning. Think back to that season, where we celebrated pipping Dick Jol's rubbish Spuds day on the final day after we beat Wigan. I'll admit I celebrated getting one over on the Spuds massively that day. It's the only time I celebrated 4th and never again. Arsenal was a part of my life massively. I was living in Spain when we got to that cup final v Mickeys when Owen robbed us, after Henchoz got away with murder. I bought a brand new satellite package, the night before, just to watch that cup final. I laugh when you call me a Spud because I actually worked with the club on the planning permission side of the move to Ashburton long before 2006. Don't take my word for it, I've got the documents to prove it
I laugh when you call me a Spud. The difference is, I'm not your usual North Korean. I admit I get no joy out out victories these days because every small victory is an extension of this purgatory. I've been horrified about the direction this club has been taking since that CL final of 2006. Most ppl it seems ot started worrying about where we were headed in 2012/13. And all my suspicions have been proved 100%. Gooners fighting each other every week FFS. It's not the Arsenal I grew up with "Victoria Concordia Crescit".
Everything about the club today and the disgusting way the old-school fans have been fobbed off sickens me. The fabric of Arsensl FC no longer exists. It ain't the club I grew up with and though I accept football changes, most clubs still give a toss about their fans.
As you've ALL admitted, Arsenal is a special case because we don't matter one jot and that is out of order and not what this club is about.
But yo, carry on accusing me of being a Spud. The day you produce evidence I am, I will give all credit to you.
But it's easier to smear isn't it?
I'm a Gooner, always will be but until the fabric of what this club is about returns then I don't want to know. And I'll give my opinion irrespective of the precious sensitivities it upsets. I don't like being this negative about a club I've supported my whole life but there's no choice. If u want to see me on tv wait until we play QPR away and I sneak a banner in. Then call me a Spud again
The thought that any rival fan would spend their days on a Gooner forum is laughable when the whole world and his wife have been laughing about us for 10 years...,

Re: THE WENGER THREAD
Totally 100 pct agree with this and it's exactly how I feel, in fact it's only my son's new found love for The Arsenal that keeps me actually going. At 6 he's obviously to young to see all of the bad that the club do on a regular basis (both on and off the pitch) he's the new generation, if these fans are lost we may as well all give up!augie wrote:I'm with armchair on the whole baba debate - I'm not saying that he isn't a troll/wum (frankly I don't give a shit at the mo) but to hold all of us to a certain standard to be certified a Gooner isn't fair imo.
