There's a big piece in the Mail today by Martin Samuel (his 2nd one anti-wenger) :

Arsene Wenger. As The Clash nearly said, should he stay or should he just f*** off?

This isn’t about one game at Stoke. This has been building for years. Nobody is suggesting acting on the whims of the crowd – but if your own fans are at war over the manager, it may be time to look at the wider effect.

Yes, living off a glorious past: that’s the way forward.

This is probably the most pertinent part of the whole thing and in many ways it is the reason the fans are so divided by one man.

A part of our fan base are so busy looking back to what was, they are too scared to look forward to what could be.

Thing is the fans will always be split over things, favourite player, most impressive win, worst loss, prices, running by the board etc etc, but generally these things are good natured banter between people with a common purpose, love of the team, our team in this case.

The current divisions in our fans have reached a fever pitch (see what i did). In factif you look at the extreme ends of the scale i don't actually think they can be reconciled.

The fact that all this hatred and bile can be traced to one man is shocking, i can't really see a way the fans can ever unite again whilst he is at the club.

I really believe that when he leaves, although it will take time, that when success comes our way again (might take time i know) then the fans will unite behind the most important thing, Arsenal Football Club, but whilst he is there i just can't see it.

Which will only lead to more fighting, abuse and everything else that goes with it. The worrying thing is that the Club fail to see that, and whether they like it or not that all this IS detrimental to the clubs image :(

i agree Muzz, "living off our glorious past" should be the clubs new motto.

i took on some mug on shewore's FB page last night who said we shouldn't abuse wonga but be "eternally grateful to him for the last 15 years"...... :banghead:

and you can't reconcile that mindset with reality can you ?

when i pointed out the 8-2, 6-3, 5-1, 6-0 pastings and the swansea, norwich, stoke, birmingham, bradford, blackburn, donetsk, braga, spartak, schalke upsets were achieved for the highest ticket prices in world football and costing us 5-8 million a year he melted away.

but i know 100% at every opportunity he will repeat the same mantra wherever he can.

its very sad its come to this.

Well said Muzz....I know of a Gooner Father & Son - who have fallen out BIG time - Weirdly though it is the fathe in his 50's who wants Wenger out but his son; in his early 20's ( started following The Arsenal during Wenger's early years of success) still thinks he (Wenger) should be given more time...

As for the club not seeing it - I think the likes of Gazidis ( and I am not a fan of his btw) and maybe a few other invisible faces within the hierarchy do - But are unable to do anything about it - Yet.

Thing is Gazidis HAS to tow the official club line - or face the axe - and the club line is what kroenke and wenker decide.

Check Mate - we iz fucked for the moment. :banghead:  :banghead:

See friend Pardew is suggesting the stadium should be named after Wenger as we owe him so much .

From The Guardian

The Newcastle manager Alan Pardew believes the recent criticism of his Arsenal counterpart Arsène Wenger is undeserved and the club should name their stadium after the Frenchman.

Pardew’s side head for the Emirates Stadium on Saturday level on points with Arsenal after ending Chelsea’s unbeaten record last week.

Wenger has come under renewed criticism in the aftermath of Arsenal’s 3-2 defeat to Stoke which left his side in sixth spot. The 65-year-old was booed by fans as he boarded a train after the game at the Britannia Stadium but Pardew, who was under pressure for his own job before steering his side to five consecutive Premier League victories, believes that is totally unjustified.

“This is a guy who has done an unbelievable job and the stadium should have been named after him,” said Pardew.

“When they moved houses they couldn’t have competed in the Champions League without him being so astute in the transfer market.

“Bearing in mind the debt they had when they first moved in, he has done an absolutely marvellous job.

“He’s had a couple of difficult results recently, but Arsène will get through it as every manager does. His treatment at the train station after the Stoke game was one of total disrespect.

“I’m sure every Arsenal fan was ashamed of what happened and they will be looking for their team to put it right on Saturday.”

It's just occurred to me that the man who has divided the fan base is the only one who can reunite them again, :cussing: ironic that, especially as he doesn't give a shit about the fans :banghead:

genuis move on his part. he knows that with that suggestion the wobarmy will be spitting nails, and a poor start to the game and the invective will fly.

Arsenal are 9/4 ON and Newcastle 6/1. the bookies must be out of their minds.

i pity whoever this weeks mug is to play CB.

Can we rename the stands as well, we could have the mental strength stand instead of the clock end.

The West Stand would have to be either Za Leeetle But jaded Stand or the "There's Only One" Stand. :? :rubchin: :?

In keeping with Wenger's Arsenal 2014-15 model maybe The North Bank should be renamed The Inglorious End.. Which is exactly where our manager is heading in two and a half years..
