The Banner

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Great banner and also respects our historical crests. Unlike the cartoonesque rubbish on the current shirt

Great banner. Should be proud of yourselves.

Didn't see it featured on Sky but then again I did spend half of the game trying to claw at my retinas to avoid having to watch that turgid shit.

So, press photographers censored at the Emirates on thursday, then Sky dont show Arsenal fans once today. Not even once.

yeah The Arsenal PR machine is in full effect at the moment trying to hide anything that goes against the status quo...The nazi's and Stalin had a very similar method - Censorship.

They won't be able to censor 50 - 100 - 200 Banners and that is what will happen...

Fuckoff wenger and his stazi henchmen. :barscarf: :cussing: :box:

Hi I don't post on here that often ( unfortunately not enough time) although I read the forum A fair bit.

Just to say big support everybody is making the banners we really appreciate it even those of us that aren't directly doing anything .

I live in Brighton nowadays and haven't been in the stadium for three years , however if some sort of genuine protest could be organised I would be happy to come up for the Villa game and take part in the demo outside the stadium and even inside by buying a ticket if somebody could organise a worthwhile attempt. Whether that is on here or via anything else, there is a lot of fans I know out there that would take part if something tangible was happening

If we want a polite banner who better to be inspired by than Dad's Army's Uncle Arthur?
Dear Arsene, I'm so sorry to be a terrible nuisance and do not want to be hasty but would you mind awfully stepping away old chap as things are becoming rather samey. I fear this might not be good for the morale of the men and with regards to a new contract ... do you think that's wise sir?

this is my view too BUT as has been pointed out on another thread, NONE of the supporters groups are prepared to do anything against Wenger.
until that changes then he won't leave. It really is as simple as that.

Love it!
By the way if all of these banners make it to the Villa game it's gonna be sooo fucking funny on the walk of shame...and potentially explosive!!

They will, just look at the earlier posts "Sky didn't show Arsenal fans once"!

Arsenal do more than most clubs to control what goes out from the ground. They will never stop it all but they will stop a lot of it.

The point some people on here seem to be missing in their haste to be abusive towards Wenger is that he does not give one iota of a fuck what any of us fans think. He has ably demonstrated this repeatedly over the years. We will not remove him by protest alone. What will make him go is if the media are hounding him at pressers etc, because his ego will not entertain that. A possible side effect of the media hounding him might be pressure on the board. They put their money first but their public image is a close second.

Therefore we need to build pressure through the media. And the media will not take seriously some idiot banner that says "Fuck off Wenger you cúnt!". Remember the frankly hysterical backlash after the 3 muppets at the train station abused Wenger? They were portrayed in the media and by other managers and people in the game as mindless yobs with no understanding or appreciation of the game and thus weren't entitled to their opinion.

It's not about the severity of the language on the banner. It's about how many banners are on show. For example 20 or 30 (or more!) well worded banners will get media attention and become part of a newsworthy story in their own right, whereas a few abusive banners will be dismissed outright.

Another thing to come to terms with is no protest will remove him quickly - he will "honour" his contract no matter what. But a sustained protest that is highly visible will ensure he doesn't sign another contract.
