His right back was getting casually roasted at Swansea, decent managers do something about it.
His team played the worse 45 minutes of the season at Stoke, decent managers try to stop the rot and don't hide in the dugout.
His team were 3 up in a vital CL group game with Anderlecht, decent managers know how to protect that lead.
The reason why very few other clubs would be interested in him is his narrow minded philosophy. He has said recently he has more admiration for a coach that can get 4th on a small budget than a coach who spends and wins the title.
Imagine how the Real Madrid heirachy would react if they had the chance to bring in Neymar or Messi for £100m but their new coach Clueless says we have a tall gangly French striker in the reserves, he lacks little bit confidence but I can make him world class. He scores once in 19 games.
Supporting Arsenal at the moment is like your wife having several one night stands with strangers, but so long as she comes home and makes you a nice meal occasionally, you put up with it.

You do know his managerial trophy record is no better than Martinez over a 10-year period right? It's almost like you don't actually watch any football. But I forget, we're lucky he's still here Arsene

many believe that you dont turn from a great manager (Which many will say he was till 2006 when Napoleon Blunderpart went and dismantled the invincibles too soon), to a shit manager,
sure no Real/ Barca Chavs would be wanting him, but drop a tier and a lot would want him, Dortmund as a swap (

Reality is probably that he got overglorified at first and now is overvilified by many (including me

Its got all too easy for him with us, rinse and wash again & again. Thats to his massive discredit, should have gone on a "high" with the FA cUP.

All managers teams suffer bad results, and have you ever seen Van Gaal actually get out of the dug out at all? Theres a lot he doesnt do right but to claim he is shit cos he drew a match and didnt stand up at the dug out is stretching it a bit. Chambers should have been protected or subbed but (For reasons that does show him to be pretty shit) he didnt have anyone realistic to do a better job at that time.

A manager that lost 6-3, 5-1, 3-0, 6-0 all in the same season, that's let a 4-goal league lead slip (a record), that let a 3-goal CL home lead slip (also a record), that lost a cup final to a relegated team (who last did that?), and picked Sanogo to start a game v the European champions. He'd walk into any other job despite not managing a top 2 league finish in a decade, apparently...

Some 2nd tier teams have won the FA Cup including The Shammers (

and it could be argued that teams that struggle a bit in the league struggle more if their having a cup run. Hence why a double is so rare.
To characterise last season in just the (awful) losses looses a lot of cred. we did win the cup if you can remember that one

Re: THE WENGER THREAD
He is now, and has been for some time, a 'best of the rest' manager. He will always achieve what the board require, namely CL football, because he fucking well should do given the squad and resources at his disposal.
The sad truth though is that he will never be wanted by a club with genuine ambitions any longer because he is tactically useless. Liverpool, for example, would crawl over broken glass to recruit him and the consistent mediocrity he delivers.
We however should be aiming higher given the claptrap we were fed regarding "competing with Europe's elite" and the eye-watering prices fans are forced to shell out.
Come back in 2017 and see if things will be different then.

Re: THE WENGER THREAD
Wenger should send a Christmas card to each of the "Stoke three" because the 'shocking abuse' he received that day has suddenly afforded him hero status by every pundit and commentator who previously slated his tactics and our performances this season,
Paul Chiefcunt Merson even told Arsenal fans they need to be 'careful what they wish for' having abused him in a more illiterate way than the "Stoke three" ever could for the past couple of years. What next - An Ode to Arsene written by Jacqui Oatley, The Wenger Eulogy by Stewart Robson, Arsene and Me by Falkirk Goon? Fuck me even Jamie Cointhrower Carragher had the cheek to talk about how 'classless' the Arsenal fans were
Paddy Barclay must be chomping at the bit to lavish praise upon his Lord and Master if we get a top four finish and last 8 of the Champions League.
If you haven't already, put these dates in your diary
18 January 2015 - lose to Manchester City
25 April 2015 - lose to Chelsea
16 May 2015 - lose to Manchester United
24 May 2015 - beat West Brom and secure the VT once more - cue mass spunking and jizzing and all of the above 'experts' reminding the world how 3 oiks once used a naughty word at Stoke months before and on that basis how Arsene has won 60000 hearts and minds and proved everyone wrong once more

Can someone please edit the Wikipedia - story of 2014.
The Ebola outbreak is on there, unrest in the Ukraine, ISIS's offensive through Iraq and Syria......but it seems to stop at 12 Nov 2014 and hence hasn't been updated to include
6 Dec - three men recorded themselves booing on a mobile phone and also telling a barely played Costa Rican footballer to "get out while he can"

I can't wait till Baba, goonersid, Augie, Falkirk Goon and Bard read the last paragraph of this one.
Wenger is a doer. I want him to continue making the ‘mistake’ of finishing top four and securing Champions League last-16 qualification. I’m off to make a banner
ONE CHRIS TORONYI......THERE'S ONLY ONE CHRIS TORONYI
Must be one of Paddy's 'little helpers' down at the LES

Re: THE WENGER THREAD
You're forgetting all those fourth place trophys, calendar year trophys, most clean sheet trophys and financially sustainable trophys Wenger has filled the Emirates trophy room with. Surely these make him our most successful manager ever?Clash wrote: I'm winding down at work before Christmas so decided to put together some Graham v Wenger statistics.
These do not include the 94/95 as Graham didnt complete the season but it does include 96/97 for Wenger as all trophies were still to play for when he arrived:
Seasons
Graham - 8
Wenger- 18
Trophies won
Graham - 6
Wenger - 8
Seasons ending with a trophy
Graham - 5 from 8 (62.50%)
Wenger - 6 from 18 (33.33%)
Success rate (e.g. trophies won against trophies available to compete for)
Graham - 6 trophies from a possible 26 = 23.08% ( first 5 seasons English teams banned in Europe)
Wenger - 8 trophies from a possible 72 = 11.11%
Cup Finals Apperances / Wins
Graham - 5 (won 4) Win ratio = 80%
Wenger - 10 (won 5) Win ratio = 50%
Cup final appearance per season
Graham - 5 from 8 seasons = 62.5%
Wenger - 10 from 18 seasons = 55.56%
Many people will simply say Wenger's 8 trophies to Graham's 6 means Wenger is our most successful manager.
But considering Wenger has to date had 10 more seasons than Graham and an extra 46 trophies to compete for - then for me it is George Graham.

He is a decade behind today's game and this would get shown up anywhere. But outside England I think he would walk into just about any (available) job.
