Judging by that article Wenger would be best suited by a club with a good youth academy, maybe Ajax.
That is why the big clubs now won't touch him.
A quote from Clueless in above article.
"For me, pleasure comes from watching those players showing the football I like to see played."
Thats all well and good, pretty football rather than trophies, when you are being paid £8m per year.
Not when you are paying on average £70 per game to watch it.
That is why he will never change, he worries too much about the style, us supporters are looking for more substance.

Yes, and this is why flash is delusional about Wenger's perceived standing in the game. Imagine Wenger being at R. Madrid, and turning down the chance to sign someone for big money. Within a couple of weeks, the board would be frustrated with him, and he would be out on his ear by the end of one season. The reality is that top clubs do not allow a settling in period. Look at Guardiola at Bayern, they won the league last season, but there was doubts over his future after the humiliation against Madrid. The standard expected would be far too high for what is now a mediocre manager.foxinthebox2001 wrote:http://www.standard.co.uk/sport/arsene- ... 57680.html

I have to agree, but the question is that would wenker perform much better if the board actually required much more from him? Has he gone stale because of he isn't challenged by the board or anyone else much harder?BFG4 wrote:Yes, and this is why flash is delusional about Wenger's perceived standing in the game. Re: THE WENGER THREAD
Glad to see my initial point is understood by many. My point is simple and I'll repeat it: Wenger as a manager, is one of the highest paid in the world. His return on trophies comparatively over that same period is no better than Bobby Martinez, this is a fact. Arsenal have a wage bill of over £150m, it's bigger than Chelski!
In return for that, Arsenal fans continue to trot out the myth that it is unreludtof to compete with Man United, Chelski and Citeh.
Wenger's record in big matches - which is how ALL big clubs judge managers (do Real board and fans give a shit about thrashing Almeria and Getafe at home?) is abominable. He's not won a single game against Jose despite having 11 occasions to do so - Pulis and Pardew have superior records v Jose, whilst Bobby Martinez has a far superior record v Citeh/ManYoo.
Wenger detests the transfer market and has never worked under a Director of Football. A dinosaur.
At a big club you're forced to sign and manage huge egos. Even when his team are desperate, Wenger prefers to start a season with just 6 defenders, despite having over £100m in the bank.
He also once said he would "take 2nd place for the next 20 years" and thinks CL qualification is an achievement in itself.
This ignores 17 years in the competition without ever winning it
These facts are overwhelming and mean that no big club, who exist to Win trophies, like Barca, Real, Bayern or even PSG would go anywhere near him. He has stacks of cash and continues to come up short. Managers like Klopp, Mourinho, Bielsa, Emery, Conte, even Martinez; have proven they can do a lot more with far far less resources. They've also showed a superior winning mentality and let's not even get into tactics.
Personally, I think it's borderline lunacy to think that any big European club would go anywhere near him. He's a laughing stock and his nickname is Nearly Man almost everywhere!

Marty has conclusive proof that WW1 was started by the Arsenal board
