WALCOTT - which position is best etc?

You also have to consider he is getting very limited help from Sagna, who shits himself every time he gets on the ball and just checks back every time. Think he had a very good first half today but no bodies in the box to aim for.

Slaughters Walcott every game and yet defends that big German donkey

Augie - come on man, you've got to give a more balanced assessment. Walcott really wasn't shite toda

So says the diaby fan club

Listen what I actually said was that he was shite in the 2nd half but that I hadnt seen enough of the first half to pass judgement on it and I stand by that 8) Sometimes I read stuff like how wally would have been a shining star had he played in earlier wenger teams and I just laff - like it or not feo has not got the technical ability or intelligence that used to be necessary to be a star in our teams :( Wally has got blistering pace but I am not quite sure that he knows how to make the most of that pace - his runs off the ball are poor and of late he is seriously threatening the greedybayor record for the most times caught offside in a season  What he has done of late is improve his finishing and maybe, just maybe, playing him up front in a 4-4-2 would suit him although tbh I would rather podolski alongside giroud purely cos he is a proven striker.

I know that for the first time in almost 20 years we have a very average team representing us and I get that we are crying out for a new hero after losing the talents of cesc and rvp in recent years but I just feel that annointing feo as that major talent is at best premature, but more realistically it is wide of the mark. He is everything that the modern world craves nowadays - he is young, a nice guy with a clean image and is a marketing pr dream but just as that doesnt make one direction proper musicians nor does it make feo a top level footballer. Comparing him to anelka is ridiculous as le sulk was an outstanding talent at 18 years of age to the point that he was courted by top clubs all over europe and wally has a long way to reach that level in my opinion.

Btw steve o, you know full well that my defence of bfg has died a death of late and I was very critical of his performance against the bin dippers so I am not as blinded/one eyed as some on here

That Diaby thread is massive and after his latest Injury I actually said he had to go. If anyone had the time to work out how much money we have lost on these long term injury players and the crap ones who pocket the money and will not leave I reckon we would get a total of 100 Million. List to include Chamkah, Diaby, Bendtner, Arshavin, Squallachi, Santos but not Walcott.
He is a good player who adds pace to our team and was missed when he was dropped. God we were slow without him.

There is no doubt that in 2004 Walcott would have been one of five strikers in the squad and would have been either 4th or 5th choice.......but sadly until Wenger has a brain transplant or someone invents a time machine to transport us back there, we are in 2013 with Wenger's Arsenal, and in this squad of players he more than merits a starting place every week and is becoming one of our best players

Lets face it, if it was 2004 even Jack Wilshere at his present age would probably have to be content with a few subs outings and starting in the League Cup because he certainly would have been behind the first choice midfielders of the day including PV4 and the emerging Fabregas, who is still the superior talent

It seems Walcott's crime is that he isn't Henry, just like Diaby is not Vieira.

If David Villa had come along in the window I would have been happy to say that Theo would have to put up and shut up with being a second string striker or face the fact that he would need to play wider. However, in a squad devoid of strikers he is the best of the bunch by some distance including everyone's new best friend from Montpellier

Wally is inconsistent and often infuriating. However, he is producing the goods on a pretty regular basis now and is largely injury free now.

Also, he isn't pictured in the papers pissed out of his gourd or photgraphed sucking someone off in a nightclub toilet so I think the amount of shit he gets on here is a tad harsh.

He's not Gerd Mueller/Leo messi but that's not his fault, he's a good player in a poor team and at least the bean counters are happy as we will get a decent fee when we decide to flog him. Nett spend, profit etc :banghead:

Congrats to Theo on hitting the 20 goal mark (for the first time in his career) this season - not a bad return for a player who was excluded from the starting eleven for the first ten league game of the season.

I'm pretty sure that in 60+ England games Emily Heskey managed less than 30 shots

Walcott surgery

Post by TurnipMasher »

Super nic to the rescue?

Arsenal forward Theo Walcott will miss England's World Cup qualifiers against Montenegro and Poland as he will have abdominal surgery on Wednesday.

Walcott, 24, did not play in Arsenal's win against Stoke on Sunday despite initially being named in the team.

"Theo will be out for a few weeks," said Gunners manager Arsene Wenger.

"He has developed some damage to his posterior abdominal wall. It's not a hernia, but it's a little structural problem in his abdomen."

He was only meant to be out four a few days. WTF! What is it wit our fragile players and the dodgy medical staff? In the good old days we played three games in a week with a squad of 15 fucking players!
