United won't lash out £12m or so up front for him because he would only ever be a rotation player there for the next 3 years. If he comes here he'll soon be a 30-40 game per season man and then when he finally looks any good in 4 years time, he'll enter the last year of his contract and we'll sell him for less than half his value. If he turns out to be a dud, we'll sign him up on a 5 year deal on 65k per week anyway. The kid can't lose really, but this is another deperate signing from a desperate man and not in the slightest what we need to improve
