maybe i'm being oversimplistic and its too short notice, but why can't another plane company be approached at the last minute?

assume original plane company has a banner to trail along, get that off them and give to another one who is willing to fly.

and ffs keep it secret who the company is. pretty daft tweeting the name of the company as the club or some akbs could easily call them up and say we will pay you more not to fly.

I would have thought whichever company took this job on would be a safe bet.....they seem reliable and impervious to bribes from a big club (ps the clear blue skies in Manchester must have surely been photoshopped!)

re closing to guests, would, need to be closed o only select group of members...the clique can be reformed!

as i have no doubt there are insiders from the club registered as members here.

you could limit it to those who have certain post numbers (as you would doubt the club stooges actually post) but that would be unfair on the new activist members who recently joined and are driving the protests....as such the only way to be safe would be for a a select group of trusted members to be party to the final plans. the plane should have been mooted as one of a number of ideas and not confirmed perhaps, and only confirmed at the very last minute (or not at all so its seen at the ground as complete surprise) but is suppose that would perhaps lead to claims that the select few were deciding what to do with the funds without consultation, and also maybe not have inspired as many to donate if it hadnt been announced a plane was being planned.

its a difficult one!

Yes can't another plane be booked for tomorrow if funds available? I assume a refund will be coming back to the fund from the plane company?A plane had already been agreed on so would not need to get approval from us again who have donated. I know time is short. Def think something other than weather going on with this

Please see the note below from the airline company....RE WBA Game

"The big winter storm that's about to hit New York in today's news, will start curling in our direction for the end of the week and on the long-term forecast I am seeing a 50:50 best chance on conditions being good enough to fly on Saturday. The probability will change every 24 hours as we get closer. You need to advise your crowd-sourced colleagues of this"

I will provide updates as I receive them, lets hope and see if the weather conditions improve as the week goes on....
PLANE BANNER UPDATE 10.20 17/03/2017
Due to the adverse weather conditions expected in the Birmingham area tonight and tomorrow the plane with the banner has had to be postponed. We will look at another date, time and venue in due course"
The club has paid them more than you not to fly

It's easy to become paranoid, but what Flash has said would never surprise me. We really are up against the masters of spin, deceit and underhandedness. Wenger's spin and propaganda alone makes Josef Goebbels look like an amateur. The Club are capable of anything in my opinion.

I have zero knowledge of hiring light aircraft, but isn't it odd to cancel the flight the day before, because of forecast wind conditions? Can't they at least wait until the morning to make a decision, what difference would that make? This is what makes me a little suspicious. Cancelbit today due to the forecast and we can't question it. Come the morning when a decision is based on actual conditions rather than a forecast and they could hardly pull out.

I dunno and I'm sure someone with more knowledge can correct me, but it doesn't smell right.

To be fair, the BBC is listing 40mph wind around Birmingham at midnight, which I'd imagine would be pretty bad in a light aircraft.
However by tomorrow morning it is say 13mph, shame the company weren't prepared to make the call tomorrow AM.

Also, it's quite possible that the plane company (is it a single guy, owner pilot set up?) have received threats from some akb. Fly and you'll be getting a visit.

All sounds rather melodramatic, but as I said above, I put nothing beyond the Club, nor the cultists that worship Wenger.

That's what I don't understand. No experience of this type of thing, but is it usual that a definitive decision is taken the day before....early morning of the day before at that ?

I'm in the middle of London right now and it's chilly and cloudy. The wind has also picked up and I can imagine it would be worse up north. I do agree with what others have said though on why the plane company has made the call so early. They also seem to be revelling in the publicity.

What a shame but completely beyond control.

The game is on TV so any notable banners in the ground will get picked up.
