LIVERPOOL GAME THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Liverpool (and Pompey) is the only league game(s) - at the Grove - that I'll be missing this season.

I'm jinxed, you see.. so I've given up on the Liverpool games.

I've seen Arsenal v Liverpool NINE times, and I've never seen us beat them
I've witnessed Michael Owen's double in the FA Cup final; Fowler's 4 minute hat-trick at Anfield, McManaman's 30 yard lob at Highbury, and countless goals by Ian Rush, Gerrard, and others.

Enough is enough!

To be honest, I'm off back home for Christmas/New Year... but my tickets have found a good home for the 'pool and Pompey games!

In the table:

1. Liverpool 38 PTS

5. Arsenal 30 PTS

From BBC: Arsenal dedicate match to charity

Arsenal's players, staff and directors will donate a day's wages to the Teenage Cancer Trust when they play Liverpool on Sunday.

Very nice.

Looking forward to this match, should be a cracking match. Arsenal seem to raise their game for games aginst tHE other 'big 4' this season. Torres might just make this game and if he does i'll be quietly confident. Predicted Liverpool line up...

---------------------------------Reina-------------------------------

Arbeloa---------------Carragher----------Agger------------Dossena

------------------------Mascherano-------Alonso----------------------

Kuyt-------------------------------Gerrard-----------------------Riera

------------------------------------*Torres------------------------------

*=If fit.

The one thing I am worried about though is the fact you have a 100% record v the 'big 4' this season. I'll be happy with a 1-1 draw.

IMO if we beat liverpool (which i think we will) all it will do is paper over the cracks in our weak and injury prone squad who cant beat the likes of fulham, hull, boro, stoke etc.

The big games against the top 4 and the mini league behind it e.g villa, pompy, everton doesnt put the same fear into me as the away games against the likes of above.

Simply because most the top 6 actually try and play rather than park 9/10 men behind the ball and try to nick a point.

Beating liverpool wont mean anything unless we do the same against villa on boxing day and pompy 2 days later.

2-0 arsenal - fabregas and adebayor.

Can't see Liverpool not scoring against our "defence". We'll need at least two to win this one, I reckon.

I have a feeling we will win this, Pool will not attack us as much as Manure or Chelsea, but i think we will cope with them except if they play Keane. It would really be a kick in the teeth of our Season if he scored :banghead:

Got a joke about keane via text message last week but am sitting on it in case the *word censored* scores against us on sunday (dont you just know that it is fated to happen  ).

Personally I see our great run v the other so called top 4 teams coming to an end on sunday when the theiving scousers come to the grove. I fear that the dirty argie *word censored* (mascherano) will kick cesc from pillar to post while that over-rated prick gerrard leaves our fat slow hippo (song) waddling his big arse in midfield :worried: Again my opinion differs from everyone else here but I would put either denilson or kolo in centre midfield for this one (I know we have done the kolo in midfield thing to death on here before but this is just my opinion 8) ). Song is, in my opinion, by far and away the worst player we have in the current squad and yes I am including eboue and bedtner in that. My line up would be -

almunia (sadly  )

sagna djouru gallas clichy

eboue cesc denilson nasri (is he fit ??)

rvp greedybayor

subs - fabinski, kolo, vela, ramsey, wilshire and nobody else cos I would rather have just 5 subs than have the very real possibility of having song and bedtner on the pitch

Sadly 1-2 is my prediction with rvp bagging our goal

I'd go with:-

ALUMINIUM

SAGNA---GALLAS---DJOUROU---CLICHY

EBOUE---RAMSEY---CESC---NASRI (IF FIT OTHERWISE VELA)

RVP---GREEDYBARNDOOR

I can't believe I just picked Eboue  In reality though, who else is there?

Gibbs isn't an option as he's a leftie but the other option would be okay.
Personally if I could get 11 Eboues I'd play them all over the pitch.

Gibbs looked impressive tonight (again) in the 20mins or so that I seen of the reserve game and the fact that he is naturally left footed and pacy would of course be an advantage on our left wing if nasri is out and wenger doesnt think wilshire is ready yet

I would also agree with spuddy re the selection of ramsey - I put denilson in there cos I dont, under any circumstances, want song in london next sunday much less on the pitch at the grove
