He always drifts to the left or right like henry used to
He cant shoot, pass or even control
He should be in the box to attack any cross

I know he is only 20 but if the bloke runs his socks off and and fights for every ball and follow lost causes then im pretty sure us fans wont get so annoyed at him but he is the complete opposite and thats the reason why people wants him out.

I partially blame AW for consistently let him get away with bad performances and still picking him up as well as playing him right mid,FFS AW go and get a proper winger, break the bank for ribery.

The Danish press is reporting that West Ham will try and swap Upson for Bendtner + cash. It's probably untrue - sadly.

its also here in the mirror. best bit of speculation ive heard!

http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/ ... -21014842/

its written by steme stammers aswell who "apparently has close arsenal links/sources"

watching the game yesterday, its so obvious what we need a CB. Thats why we lost the title last year because we couldnt hold onto a lead. No improvemrnt this year. but we already have gallas, toure, djourou, silvestre, senderos to come back from loan :banghead: hopefully we can fob him off to someone. Wenger will probably say we have song and gavin hoyte who can play there aswell. So unless 1 or 2 go i cant see it. IMO i would like to see our defence of sagna upson, gallas clichy, then have djourou and kolo on the bench as backup

Whether the story is true of not I do nto know, but Stammers does have close links to the club, having been a club journalist for a while, and having appeared on Arsenal TV and just written an official book for the club.

I pay my money to get in so I am allowed to have my point of view and that is Bendtner is a useless, flash, arrogant twat couldn't trap a skip!

Quartz, you do say some soppy things at times about football. You are obviously an intelligent guy but your notion that Bendtner can play as some kind of second striker or playmaker whatever you wanna call him is laughable.

You talk about him hitting 40 yeard passes when it is clear to see that the guy struggles with a 10 yard ball. To hit a 40 yard ball yóu would have to be on the half way line so does this make him holding midfielder potential?

If we get a reasonable offer then for gods sake take it!

I would sell Bendtner in a flash Gus, £5M would grab the money, I do not believe he is the right player for us..

Nothing daft about what I said about him though, best part of his game is when he is deep, he can pass forward a decent through ball.

The rest of his game is not at required standard, though I have a feeling he is the sort of player who will do ok at another club who play a more route one game.

But you have contradicted yourself again though!

You talk about him as a playmaker lying deep then say he would be better suited to route one direct football!

Bendtner is an out and out front man and nothing else! Crying shame he isn't a very good one!

No, I have not contradicted myself.

I believe he is a number 10 as a "second striker", but physically built like a traditional number 9 centre forward.

I do not believe he should be playing as deep as a midfield playmaker (though number 10 can mean that role on the continent) and partnering Song in midfield, and I have not said that.

I think that whilst he stays at Arsenal, his best partners would be RvP or Eduardo, either of whom can be pushed forward as the goal scorer, whilst Bendtner is the guy to hold the ball up with back to goal, or stay wider and deeper and draw a defender out of position.

For me, Bendtner does not have the technical ability or pace to be a main striker.

You are tieing yourself up in knots mate!

He doesn't have the technical ability to play as an out and out front man but does have enough skill to play in the position regarded as needing the most craft and guile?

Sometimes Quartz you try to be too clever with your comments. Bendtner is never ever going to be a "number 10" all the time he has a hole in his arse and to say that is his best position is pure folly as you have never seen they guy play there. However, we have all seen his lack of basic control, ability and attitude.

Not tied myself up in knots.

My argument is consistent.

Of course you have the right to disagree with my opinion.

Comments I have made throughout this thread, if you read earlier comments I have made, you will see I am consistent in my belief that Bendtner can play a bit when not under pressure of fast players bearing down on him.

He does not have the ability or "quick feet" needed to be a front man/number 9.

He is though capable of playing through balls on the ground, and holding the ball up, when played deeper, when he has a bit of time and space to control the ball and pass it.

You say I have never seen Bendtner play as a number 10, but we all have seen him play deeper in the spaces that a number 10 would occupy. He does this regualarly when played with both RvP and Adebayor...dropping deeper and drifting wide.

He does not have the trickery needed to play the ball in tight situations such as a crowded six yard box, but I have never claimed that.

IMO I think he could become a really good footballer the problem is that he is not yet good enough to start games. If you look back at RVP when he was 21/22 he would drift in and out of games when he played from the start. Bendtner is a player we should bring on for the last 30 mins or so, do give him a start in games like yesterday but not in PL/CL games. Also when he does play as a striker he needs somebody like Eduardo or Vela not Ady next to him. He needs players who can pull defenders away from him and who he can lay the ball off too.
