I definitely want a Chelsea Win. The League is based on squads and Villa have now played over 40 games this season. They are far more likely to tire and drop off than Chelsea with their wealth of choice. Also having a new manager will always give them a little boost.

Most important thing is our result though, if we don;t get 3 points then the Villa Chavs score is frnakly irrelevant and I'll be more worried about the Everton score!

Chelski fan for the day!! The top 3 will be Mancs, Pool, Chelsea. I guarantee you that. Therefore we should want Villa to lose every game the play starting Saturday. We are in a staright battle with them for fourth spot.

Although a Chelsea defeat coupled with a home win for us would leave us in touching distance of the chavs, you still get the feeling that catching Villa is our best best....I predict Chelsea to accumulate more points than us from now until the end of the season....Villa have just started to have a little dip in results of late, so a defeat at home on Saturday might really start to plant a seed of doubt in their heads....So I for one will be cheering on the rentboys Saturday lunchtime!

A great debate & a really tough one.

Personally, I want a winner i.e. no draw. I think I would prefer a Chelsea win as I am convinced Villa will not last the pace & something tells me Hiddink will get Chelsea back on track. Plus I'd like to see the points between us 3 become tighter rather than chasing one place above if that makes sense :? ?

But my Dad made a good point. He wants a Villa win & then us to take 4th place in the next couple of weeks as Chelsea falter. Either way, by the end of March we need to have taken AT LEAST 11 pts from 15 but more likely need 13 to really get close.

I think if hiddink hadnt taken over chavski then a villa win may have been better for us but am not so sure now. At the same time if villa take a hiding again then it might shake their belief somewhat especially seeing as this is new territory for them. I had given up on catching villa to be honest so that only makes me more confused  Fcuk it I'll vote for the draw 8)
Augie I am exactly the same. Had Scolari stayed I would want a nailed on Villa win but there is too much doubt now. As long as we beat Sunderland we will close the gap on one of them

Right, Im a sad bar steward & have done the following:

Next 5 games (up to end of March)

Villa: 4 games possible dropping pts
Chelsea: 3 games possible dropping pts
Arsenal: 2 games possible dropping pts

Worst outcomes-

Villa: 6
Chelsea: 8
Arsenal: 11

Likely:

Villa: 7/9
Chelsea: 9/10
Arsenal: 11/13

So, even if we pick up 11pts from our next 5 games, the table will look like this:

Villa: 58/60
Chelsea: 58/59
Arsenal: 55/57

Thats with 8 games to go. Keep the faith boys & girls :)

the run ins:
easiest for us then chels - villa will drop loads of points

us, villa, chavs

sunderland(h), villa v chels - we pick up at least 2
fulham, stoke, wigan all home - neutral
wba, citeh, pompey (a) - we have easiest fixture
Blackburn, spuds, citeh(h) again we have easiest fixture
newcastle,liverpool,spuds(a)villa won't win@anfield,I'll c us beat Newcastle
citeh(h),manure(a),newcastle(a) us2win villa drop points
wigan(a),everton(h),bolton(h) us2win villa drop points
liverpool(a), westham(h),everton(h) first time the fixtures favour villa
boro(h),bolton(a),westham(a) favours us

then villa have an easier last four games
but by then we'll have picked up around 15 points on them
maybe half that on the chavs - will have to beat them at emirates to push into 3rd
pompey(a),hull(h),fulham(h)
ars v chels, fulham(a)
manure(a)boro(a)blkbrn(h)
stoke(h)newcastle(h)sunderland(a)

Interesting thing with Villa winning is that it's the only way that Champions League place is still in our own hands (just involves us winning every game to end of the season!)

Pointless guessing really. What seems like a good result tomorrow may turn out to be a bad result by the time we get to the end of the season. We just need to concentrate on winning our own games. Having said that is there any chance they can both get beat tomorrow

we were MEANT to beat fulham, hull and stoke, look how that went. we had such an easy start to the campaign and failed to maximise the points tally early doors...

I don't reckon villa will last it.. so for that reason they may as well drop points to chelsea, who are unlikely to finish outside the top 4

It's got to be a Chelsea win. Villa are not necessarily stronger than us. Over 38 games Chelsea have a bigger stronger squad.

Villa haven't had a 'dip' yet. Quiet the reverse in fact. Chelsea should be inspired by Gus. So it all points to us overhauling Villa if we want 4th.

As in our gus ?? From this forum ? Thought he is supposed to be inspiring the Gooner fans team tomorrow morn ? (should make good viewing   )

I see today both carvalho and the mobile phone loving judas *word censored* are both out tomorrow for the chavs - could be a serious blow to them when you factor in aghbonlawhore's pace against a slow back line
