martins

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

wenger must certainly have faith with the youth coming through to provide what we need in midfield and in particular on the wings. do we really need another striker?
dont get me wrong, buying up players left right and centre is not going to help anyone but watching the likes of malouoda and babel who have been heavily linked with us go elsewhere gets a bit disheartning. especially in areas of the team we lacked last season.
in all fairness martins is a quality striker but at the expense of creative goal scoring midfielders?

Wenger has just got to produce something this year or there is going to be a lot of gooners eating humble pie over our "wenger knows" religon!!!

heres hoping...wenger knows!

Wenger has been amazing for Arsenal and can not and will not be judged on this season alone, when Wenger does finally leave and someone replaces him if that person does just half what Wenger has achived il be happy

Im not judging him on what he might do this year alone (i dont think i would ever be worthy to judge him at all) but its been over the last 2-3 seasons plus the upcoming one. He obviously has some sort of plan up his sleeve, its just not apparant to the mere mortal!

could play the dutch 4-3-3, with van persie on the right (as he does for holland), eduardo on the left and martins up top.
Wenger did make a comment when we bought Eduardo that "...although he is predominantly a striker, he is a very adaptable player."

Which could (and i stress could) make Demzy's suggestion seem a bit more likely.

And Adebayor's game is tailor-made for holding up the ball and bringing others into play. Plus RVP would have more space/freedom to run at defenders while still being central enough to do damage where he is most effective.

PS - by RVP on the right and Dudu on the left i assume you were talking about to the left/right of the central striker, and not way out on the wings!

I think he has gone down the total football way (over the last 2-3 years ) against huge big atheletes & it hasn't come off yet !! The old arsenal were big imposing lads with big physical players in paddy - Adams - petit - Edu .. Campbell !! All big boy's . I think this has been copied certainly by Chelsea & wengers gone the other way ..I guess time will tell if it results in trophies.

Martins could be possible smokescreen for an apparent bid for Kieron Dyer - he did play well against us this season but I am not to keen on his attitude.
