It was bullshit to begin with, and you're mugs for chiming in

However, I do believe that immigrants should try and adapt to their new country, and ideally, learn the language too.
That's basically what the article was saying. Immigrants are welcome, but please respect our culture and try and fit in.
It probably didn't need to be as aggressive (although it was a hoax

True.. fit in, speak the language, integrate.. that's what any immigrant wanting to work has to do.. wanting to work is the key for me. it's a rare commodity these days..g88ner wrote:I didn't chime inSir Denis wrote:All of it....g88ner wrote:Just out of interest, Sir Denis... which part don't you agree with?Sir Denis wrote:I dont agree

This coming from a population who colonised the country , displacing the native Australian as second class citizens.g88ner wrote:I didn't chime inSir Denis wrote:All of it....g88ner wrote:Just out of interest, Sir Denis... which part don't you agree with?Sir Denis wrote:I dont agree

I'm fully aware of some of the shocking treatment of the Aboriginie population, but sadly most countries (inc. Britain!) have plenty of skeletons in their cupboards.pixie wrote:This coming from a population who colonised the country , displacing the native Australian as second class citizens.

But what are you suggesting?
That Australia's past - and even current - failings means they shouldn't encourage future immigrants to integrate into society??
This isn't just points scoring; instead of highlighting and dwelling on the failures, we need to look at the solutions... and INTEGRATION is a necessary step, and as your news link suggests, mistakes have been made in the past.... lets learn from them, and move forward.
