In my experience* Yankee, Rangers fans are worse than Celtic's.

* My dad's a Hearts fan & I went to a few games up there as a kid during holidays - if you can call going to Scotland a "holiday"!

celtic would be nearly as bad but rangers would bring 10000 fans and they would be sitting all over the ground so trouble would more or less be guaranteed, thats why i cant see the police letting this get the go ahead and if it is true then what were arsenal thinking when rangers were recommended
of all the clubs in england arsenal would have one of the biggest irish connections within the support with a huge percentage been first or second generation from the thousands of southern irish that emigrated to london in the 50s with most settling in north london and having 10000 gers chanting anti irish slogans and songs about been up to there necks in fenian blood would not go down well in north london

I don't remember Celtic causing any problems when they were down for Tony Adam's second testimonial in 2001/02.

Celtic are far from perfect either but they’ve played a few friendlies/testimonials in England & taken big support without any trouble - TA6’s, some Ushtd c*nt’s (Keane?) testimonial a couple of years ago, Fulham last summer, etc.

And like Rebel says Rangers are well known for always singing sectarian songs, the “Hello, Hello… Fenian bloodâ€

What happened to attracting "big names" like Inter, Real etc? Rangers are a UEFA club, it would be like bringing Everton to a "big" friendly.
Spot on, a shit club with shit fans. I for one won't be wasting my money to watch them.
i support rangers and go and watch the odd game, scummy fans, why is that? every club has scummy fans, as for celtic, just as bad as rangers, they are no better no worse

i have no time for the old firm as one as bad as the other but to make a point to thearsenal how is it celtic can take 60-70thousand to a uefa cup final and then be praised by uefa, rangers wreck manchester
celtic praised in barcelona and rangers get the pubs shut in the same city, in my experience then yes rangers and celtic are both sectarian wankers but rangers are worse

Inviting Rangers down would be a massive mistake. There will be 1000s down for a weekend in the smoke, many with no interest in going to the game plus you would have the possibliity of them joining up with the Chavski mob to do a bit of Catholic bashing what with Arsenals large Irish fanbase.

After Manchester and Sunderland where they caused major bother couple years back, I'll be surprised if the London Plod allow this to go ahead.

TBH Reb most of the Irish i know who live in Islington and in other parts of London are United or Liverpool fans.
It has never ceased to amaze me if you go to most of the pubs in and around Highbury and Holloway when Arsenal are away to Liverpool or United in a lot of cases there will be just as many if not more Pool and United fans watching the game and a big percentage of them tend to be the local Irish.
But your still right if there is going to be 10,000 Rangers fans roaming around the Highbury, Holloway and Finsbury Park areas before and after the games there is definitely going to be some serious trouble both with the local Irish and the locals Arsenal or not.
As far as Celtic go considering the numbers they bring when they come to play us there is very little trouble and if you are out around the local pubs after the game you'll see very little aggressive behaviour from them, of all the big clubs that come to highbury with a large support i'd have to say the Celtic fans were the friendliest and gave of the least aggressive vibes, in general a pleasure to be around.

Celtic have a better reputation... they'll basically drag out every Irishman in London.

Someone said are Rangers as bad as Milwall or Leeds.... they're as bad (Wall aren't really bad anymore), plus they love getting one over the English... plus, they'll be dragging out all the muppets who fancy a tare up.

I think there is a mutual respect between Celtic and Arsenal tbh.
Rangers are scum IMO and would reek havoc.
Not to mention PSG who have a big hooligan element themselves.

I have no problem with the fixture myself. Would love nothing better than to smash them back to Glasgow.
And they are shit as well.

I'm sure if we ever play Millwall again they would cause trouble. They certainly did the last time and they would for every big game.

i heard the club would have preferred celtic but they were more expensive than rangers. obviously all the guest clubs are paid to appear. i remember from the nigel winterburn testimonial that things were a bit hairy with the rangers fans. however, i suspect the police will be out in number and if the area is a controlled drinking zone by that time, there could be plenty of arrests.

frankly, i can't see a good outcome to this and suspect it will be the last time a glasgow side visit london for a friendly. call me a pessimist - i hope i am wrong.
