Adeybayor "Goodbye" chant for last home match

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

You could argue that mentally he's not been near it all season!

I am going to try and spear him with the 200 flags I collected after the Man Ure CL game!

I think Arsene would see it as an attack on him & with Real Madrid showing interest, only "Arsene knows" where he will be next year!! And if Arsene goes,do you honestly expect Cesc, Robin & co. to not be tempted? Please think about it for the good of our GREAT club- we are THE ARSENAL & I want us to remain on Arsene's course as it is THE only one for this club. Wake Up :banghead:

Sorry but thats bollocks.

There was an Arsenal before his arrival and there will still be an Arsenal after he has gone.

I would suggest that you take a reality pill.

I already did & you may be right, but assuming that financial prudence is required as we are told due to the stadium costs etc & looking at our league position since August '91 upto '97( without a new ground/training ground to fund nb!) I genuinely believe Arsene is the best qualified to take us forward & it worries me no end if he did go. No one is perfect in every single decision, but I back his overall judgement.
Who would you rather have?
Despite his undoubted ability I too would cash in on Barndoor ideally to a continental side, due to his lack of contribution overall. Perhaps we are right on that, but I remember thinking Ray Parlour was never going to be the finised product- but the major difference was the effort put in!
I respect all fans to show their views at the game however they feel is right as I KNOW we are all aiming for the same thing. I also wish I was on Arsene's salary & think he should take it all on the chin & sometimes be more critical. He aint no Cloughie though- even though he broke his unbeaten record!
I will take another pill now- pass the beer

In reply to WHL 71 04:

Quite frankly I don't think that the other players will mind abuse of Adeybayor too much as I don't think that he is the most popular player in the dressing room and in my opinion is the disruptive influence that Gallas spoke of earlier in the season. So long as it is ONLY Adeybayor that gets the abuse.

As for Wenger if he can't take criticism after 4 trophyless seasons then he can f**k off too! We will get ourselves a manager who actually appreciates that the primary purpose is to win something. He has lived off of past achievements for far too long now. I personally didn't appreciate his patronising comments directed at the fans when he said that "You Would Have Thought That I Had Killed Somebody". On the contrary, occassional abuse of individual players aside, the Arsenal supporters have been incredibley patient bearing in mind some of the c**p that has been served up this season, along with 4 trophyless years and, although not the loudest, still turn up 60,000 week in and week out.

I don't buy all this rubbish about a lack of resources either. It wasn't a lack of resources that meant we chucked away the league last season by chucking away winning positions against the likes of a 10 man Birmingham side, or by failing to beat the same Birmingham side at home, which were the 4 points that we lost the league by. It wasn't a lack of resources that dictated that Wenger leave Arshavin out of the Semi Final against Chelsea which was our best chance of a trophy this year. We have failed to win trophies because Wenger has made mistakes.

The fact that we are a young side and in 2 or 3 years will be world beaters is just an excuse for failure. Wenger chose to create a young side and sell more experienced players such as Henry / Pires / Vieira / Gilberto before their time and so he must take responsibility when they don't win a trophy for 4 years. What everybody forgets is that they said that the 2007 League Cup Final team that lost to Chelsea would be world beaters in 2 or 3 years time. Yet here we are 2 years later and still no further forward. Alliadierre led the attack that day. Where is he now? Relegated with a poor MIddlesborough side thats where.

If things are to progress at Arsenal and we are to start winning things again then something has got to change.

And to add to that, our wage bill does not suggest a lack of resources!

 What will happen if Ade actually gets a hattrick, especially if half the crowd have already told him to go forth?

I won't ever boo our own players - it is self destructive and will send all the wrong signals to the team and beyond through the media.

That said, I won't be remotely bothered when Ade leaves in the summer. What is truly annoying about it is last season he (rightly) earnt alot of support - even when missing chances he was putting the effort in. Then the summer rubbish with him trying to force a move away and his frequent lack of effort this season which has only accentuated his shortcomings. For 80k a week we have a striker who has no first touch, no left foot, hides behind defenders with the ball in the air, has little or no understanding of the off-side rule, almost never gets past a defender and often just puts in zero effort. If there is a club out there that will give us some stupid money for him then fine and if we end up playing against him next season I will be all too happy to let rip, but I won't boo a player while they still wear our colours.

I'd be delighted to see the back of Adebayor. And any other player who is not prepared to put in an acceptable amount of effort.

Singing nasty songs to him is not necessary. And ought to be beneath our collective dignity.

I don't think it has anything to do with the new breed of supporters because i am only 22 but i agree with everything else which you are saying.
I wrote a similar post on the 'Negative, negative, fucking negative arsenal fans' thread.
We haven't even got good songs for our better players yet we can think of all sorts of songs for adebayor.
Never have i heard in a season arsenal players getting so much stick from the fans.
Ade deserves it but we have to draw a line somewhere.
If Cesc has a couple of bad games people will be telling him to fuck off soon.
I couldnt believe it the other day when i saw a post saying should we sell cesc!!!!
Lets try getting behind the team sunday!!!

“Emmanuel completely lost it and had a right go back. He said ‘I get £110,000 a week if you must know’. It just made the guy even more angry.

Slagging off ade is in a way criticising Wenger, and Mr Hill Wood says that's not allowed, and anyway it might upset Wenger, and he might sulk off to madrid, SO SING FFS SING!
