Arsenal’s weekend of promise and frustration (30/7)

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Then again more silverware in the cabinet
I wouldn't call Inter Milan (Italian Champions) easy opponents. Yes they had players missing but so did we and as for PSG they showed they are good against Valencia

Hello Thingie, and welcome to the forum ...

beg to disagree with you comment on the quality of the opposition ... valencia, inter, psg are top quality sides ... hundreds of times better than the asian sides manure went around spanking, or the tournament with liverpool/fulham/etc .. or the technically poor SA teams spuds felt big about beating ...

similarly, the amsterdam tournamnet has decent sides, and I reckon the games are great for arsenal .. especially for the young players .... hope they keep them going during the summer breaks ...

Arsenal have done well with this tournament & it got everyone talking about how well Arsenal play & hosted the new Emirates cup
I love pre season tournaments & i remember once when Arsenal was in Amsterdam, Man Utd was in the Vodefone cup at OT & Newcastle was in some cup at SJP
It gets the team into shape & gets people who don't get to see the Arsenal often see what there all about like thing1
I noticed that there were alot of people from different cultures going to watch the football with there kids & they looked very exited to watch them
I felt strange to me as i never went to no friendles at Highbury expect for testimonals & now i have this
I wasn't around in the late 80's & early 90's when we hosted & played in different tournaments like the Wembley one in 88 which i have the programme & ticket stub for :D
It was nice to watch Arsenal in two matches in two days playing like if it weren't a pre season game
If the tournament happens next year Arsenal will be expected to win it which i don't mind losing as long as the others entain me
I enjoyed watching Valencia play as i never seen them play niether Inter & PSG so it was a different experience
It was quite cheap for me as i only payed £30 for both days & wouldn't mind paying that every year but it won't happen i guess
