Owen to the Mancs??

I would LOVE IT, really LOVE IT (in my best Kevin Keegan accent) if Greedybarndoor went to the Mancs or the Chavs.

He would try really hard to score against his old club.

Which means, of course, he would be offside even more than he was for us.

Problem is if Owen or greedywhore went to the mancs Rednose would probably get the best out of them, only using Owen sparingly to minimise injuries and sorting out greedywhores attitude with a good kick up the hole. Neither would be first choice striker.

One thing that alco taggert looking crunt is good at is knowing when to use and get the best from his players.

The problem I see in Owen's plan is that he will only be used as a bit part player should he sign for United. This is not going to get him in the England squad playing the last 20 minutes plus carling cup and meaningless CL games. Signing for Everton would be his best bet of going to SA 2010 as he would get as many games as his crumbling body would allow.

Owen will start 10 -12 games. He is a back up player who will play against the lower teams when Fergie wants to rest players. And if Fergie gets him to sign a pay as you play contract Utd cant lose. While we pay £80k a week for a lazy c**t

Man Utd have 2 strikers + Macheda left at the club. It's a slightly different situation from ours.

If they don't buy another striker Owen will not only get 10 starts, but around 20.

well I should have qualified that he would play 20 if he wasn't injured for 3 quarters of the season.

People may knock it and laugh, but I think this is a shrewd signing. Ok, so he's no Benzema or Ronaldo or Tevez or Aguero etc, but with the chances Utd create, he could do a good job. I hear people say he lacks speed, but Van Nistlerooy wasn't fast either. I reckon Ferguson will manage to get at least 10+ goals out of him next season, to be honest. :x

i was actually talking to a mate of mine about owen a couple of weeks ago! i was saying wenger should take a gamble (as if) on him. A fit Michael Owen will get you more goal then the greedybarndoor will, even if a fit michael owen is ait of a myth....

I think he will come good up there.... and im affraid its another one we missed out on!

I dont think he is any good, simple as that, another player who has completely declined and people just wont admitt it, he prefers golf now anyway doesnt he?

I hope they sign him, dont think he will do anything at all

Nistelrooy wasnt slow, i remember him roaring past a couple of our defenders in 2003 and scoring, he was just a player whos game didnt rely on pace, but he did have it if need be, Owen is completely clapped out!

Owen has lost his primary asset(pace) and that was what his whole game was based around.
Unlike Del Piro who lost his pace and has amazing technique to make up for it, Owen hasn't really evolved and I dont see him causing much problems for us.
from a goal ratio of 1.88 to 2.6 to 2.8 I dont see him getting any better infront of goal considering some of the chances he missed at newcastle.

Btw Ruud Van was not always slow and his height, strength, positioning and finishing made up for the loose.

I think if they were to sign him they could play him in a solskjaer role.
A super-sub sort of role who comes on every other game?

Interesting to see the Poll results from the BBCSport website about this owen deal. I thought the fans would hate the news but these were the results:

Do you want to see Michael Owen at Manchester Utd next season?
Yes: 37%
Yes but he cant be our major signing: 37%
No: 26%
