If that was I would be extatic. I doubt it tho. 15m+Richards would be more closer to the mark i think. We will see...

Manchester City Agree Fee With Arsenal For Emmanuel Adebayor
Arsenal and Manchester City are in talks over the transfer of Togo striker Emmanuel Adebayor.

Sky Sports News reports that the Arsenal hitman is set to start contract talks with the Eastlands side.

Adebayor has been linked with a move away from the Gunners with reported interest from Barcelona and AC Milan.

However, it appears Manchester City have stolen a march on their rivals by agreeing a £20 million fee.

City manager Mark Hughes is desperate to bring in quality names, and has been chasing Chelsea and England captain John Terry, as he attempts to kick-start his Eastlands revolution.

Sky Sports also report that the transfer of former Manchester United striker Carlos Tevez is nearing completion.

It is believed that Tevez has opted to move to the city rivals of his former club over a switch to Chelsea.

This is what I wrote on the Transfers thread a couple of weeks ago..
I Hate Hleb wrote:Given Wenger's comments above, it seems as if he expects Ade to leave and has Chamkha as part of his contingency plan. My reading of it is that ideally Wenger doesn't want Ade to go, but because of recent history, is effectively leaving it up to the player whilst at the same time hoping to get a good deal and replacement for the club.

Indeed, that French Football expert Phillipe O'Claire ? (obviously has some Irish in him  ) said on the radio last week that Arsenal would definately be signing Chamkha. Although not massive like Ade, he said the guy was brilliant in the air and that he thought Chamkha would be a big hit here. Let's hope he's right.
If this plays out as is rumoured, then we will probably be signing Chamkha as a replacement. Anyone else know anything about the guy?

On a more serious note I cannot see this deal being true - maybe I am hoping for reverse physcology here    The greedy *word censored* must be in an awful dilemma though if it is true cos if he goes to citeeh he will be cementing the view that he is a money grabbing mercenary though I suppose he could say that the club agreed a fee so didnt want him anymore

Ah, just because he said Chamkha was good in the air, doesn't necessarily mean he can head the ball!! :? For all we know, he might just be a frequent flyer!!

I'd rather not sell to City to be honest.

This is all so well and so good, but it will be a complete disaster if the cash is not used to buy another striker, and just who would we get? There won't be too many decent stikers on the continent looking to come here given our wage structure and the 50% tax rate.
If he does go it will weaken the squad in an area where we are already light given the proneness to injury of most of our strikers. So I would be very concerned until I see a replacement.
