Djourou on loan and the squad is so thin..depressed or what

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I too cannot believe that anybody would claim that big phil is better than djouru - i like big phil and would love him to succeed but sadly believe that he will not recover from last season when too many weaknesses were exposed. Somebody has to be blowing smoke up our asses on the whole transfer kitty - surely if there was cash available a man as intellegent as wenger would see the glaring weaknesses in the squad ;

1. No goalscoring midfielders

2. No proper wingers (a huge concern)

3. No pace up front

Playing 1 up front is a crock of sh*t to me especially as problem number 1 has still to be rectified. Eboue is a defender(you can debate elsewhere on his merits) and putting him on the wing is just a cheaper option than buying a natural winger. The very fact that flamini(always a trier) starts in midfield for us yesterday and song was his back-up tells me everything about this wafer thin squad.....it simply aint strong enough.

I would never ever look for wenger to be sacked as our manager but if he really believes that the current squad is good enough then we should be really really questioning his judgement on this and the future. :roll:

We don't have a transfer kitty as such. We have no cash to buy players. The stadium is swallowing up most of the funds and will do for a couple of years yet. AW has to finance his own signings by selling in order to buy. That's whats happened this summer.

If there was a player that Arsene insisted on then I think the board would back him and funnel the money from elswhere but overall its just PR to placate the fans.
