ALAN SMITH!

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I think it is because he dates back to the pre Wenger pre Skyruletheworld era that people dislike him

Thoroughly decent bloke too, none of this flirting with other clubs or holding out for more wages and only ever got 1 yellow card and for time wasting in the Cup winners cup final '94

I think people need to bear in mind that if you wanna make it as a pundit on Sky, 95% of the positions have knocking Arsenal and being really nice to Man U in the job description.

They'll tolerate maybe one lone voice supporting Arsenal and telling it as it is, but everyone else needs to tow the company line.

He just missed out on the big money coming onto football with his career, so you can't blame him from trying to make as much as possible now.

I think he got the card in the F.A. cup replay against Sheff Wed. I remember going mad when he got it, coz Mark Bright got away with a blatant elbow against him in the same game... :x :banghead:
