Bendtner is a brilliant player, nothing wrong with a bit of confidence - you can all say we should have more "experienced" "proven" players up front but is that Nicky Bs fault?

He works hard for the team (unlike some of our other recent strikers) and even when he does have a poor game can score a goal from nothing (eg liverpool in the CC).

Nothing better than hearing people slag him off at the Emirates and moments later he scores!! Im glad he believes in himself because he doesnt always get the support he deserves!! :barscarf:

In the article, Bendtner doesn't actually say he wants to be the worlds best, says he wants to be amongst the worlds best, bit petty I know but it annoys me how the media make up a headline from nothing just to mislead.

I think Bendtner is developing nicely, very happy to have him around the squad as he offers something a bit different to the others.

I know what you mean here. It’s a bit like prostitutes isn’t it? You got your good old fashioned brass who will take care of pretty much all the perverted desires you wish to perform. But sometimes you just need something a bit different and this is where you can’t beat a nice young Thai Lady Boy.

So in much the same way that I wouldn’t be spending all my time with the Lady Boy except for when I was feeling especially freaky I wouldn’t want Bendtner starting week in week out.

But it’s a nice option to have. For when you want to spice things up a bit.

  8)

I think he is a very good member of the squad, im not saying he should be starting every week, but when he does play i am really pleased. He always works hard and definitely gives us something different up top.

I think he is a very talented lad, very good in the air, excellent control and shielding of the ball, i think his finishing does let him down at times but that would improve if he was being used as a proper centre forward, he does well coming in from the left wing, but feel he would be more useful through the middle!

Im confident he will be a top player for us in the very near future!

Which asks the question...."Why does AW keep using him on the right wing?"

Yes, im not sure, he is not really the type of player to beat people and get to the line, so isnt much use on that side, where as playing as the central striker he wins lots of headers and holds the ball up, and coming in from the left he can cut in and test the centre halfs and get a few shots in.

I didnt say world class flash I said brilliant - and i think he is!!

I know what you mean about putting him out on the flank, I think the idea is that he will dominate full backs in the air as opposed to CBs - but personally if VP got injured id get Bendtner in that role - as he can bring others into play well, seems a bit wasted out wide.

I know you didnt call him world class you called him brilliant and he isnt at the brilliant stage of his career yet, i think Mr Tongue called it correctly when referring to him as developing nicely (and that isnt a put down). I would say world class and brilliant are of a similar standard Henry was brilliant for us Bendtner is along way away from that at the moment.

My view is these days not only on here but on radio stations and TV etc too many decent/good players are described as world class/brilliant

This could not happen. Well not now at least. To play in the role RvP does you need quite an exceptional first touch. Exhibit A, Cesc’s goal at Wolves.

I’m sure you must agree that Bendtner’s first touch isn’t the greatest. And as we play balls into the front man’s feet it would be hard to expect a high level of performance from him in that role. If our game changed to high balls into the front man to knock down, yeah, but didn’t we all roundly laugh at Spurts for doing just that to Crouch the other week?

VP is a world class player, so naturally replacing him with Bendtner will have drawbacks purely because VP is so bloody good! Rememebr at the begining of the season some said VP was wasted in that role!!

What Im saying is Bendtner does link up play well so would be well suited to it (although would be much better in a 4-4-2 woth Eduardo / Vela as he has shown in the past). Your correct re:crouch and long balls, but maybe thats why he is being played out wide to utilise his height in a different way - obviously more effective that the way the spuds use Crouch - even if we all agree he is a bit wasted out there.

Flash it was either brilliant or "Triffic" and im not going to follow twitchys lead haha!!

bendtner is not brilliant. at best he is good. i cant think of a single game where his performance can be classed as brilliant. brilliant is where a player is getting a MOTM for his performance, i cant think of bendtner being up for MOTM either this season or last.

needs to learn how NOT to give the ball away first
and also to NOT get in the way of vital champions league goals (will never let that go )
