SPUDMASHER wrote:can't agree with the 'spraying passes' and 'setting us on another attack' comments at all. By his standards Denilson was better than usual last night. Not anywhere near as guilty of his negative style as he was earlier in the season but still nowhere near good enough to hold a regular place in the first 11. He has Rosicky, Nasri and Ramsey to contend with for that position and personally I would put him behind all three. The test is to think of our strongest 11 we could put out and ask if he is in it. I'll bet that less than 1% of this forum would be starting him.
I'd agree with most of that Spuddy.

Was nice to see him be positve in advancing play.
Baring in mind he's returning form injury and if he continues he could become a better player. remember he's still young.

That said I would still put others ahead of him....except Diaby!

Oh, I see.

Only got to watch the last half an hour which was a rather dull affair.

as db10 says it makes you wonder from some of the comments if people actually watched the game.

denilson was anonymous, which for him is a bonus. standard are dire (but better than when i saw them at THOF). his goal was a fluke even dodgy manuel could have saved it.

we were very average, but it didnt really matter as we were pretty much thru and group winners.

Play like that v chelsea and its bye bye title (not that we were ever going to win it)

I thought denilson had a very good game and im not a great fan of his. He broke up the play well.

Denilson is a must start for me against chelsea, we need another player in there that can read the game and make vital interceptions. We dont have any other players that can do this.

All you guys complaining about how average Denilson was last night should look no further than our supposed superstar Arshavin who has been our most average player all season.

Agreed on Arshavin - he has been very average in most games with only odd moments of genius. But this thread is about Denilson. It's not a witch hunt against him as I think most people would agree that he is a very honest player and seems a decent bloke too. But his game is pretty limited for that level I think.

tpm reminds me of my boss. when i told him sales was up 40% after i joined the company, he told me "and? any average bastard can do that. now to improving things, will ya?"

some guys wake up with a dick inside their ass everyday, don't they?

Don't get me wrong, I like Denilson - he is not flash and always running to the press etc - but he is (on current evidence) not a great player. He had a few bad passes last night (one two yards behind his intended target and out of play, under no pressure) but he also made a few good interceptions.

His goal was mostly down to very poor goalkeeping but at least he had the confidence to hit the shot. A better keeper would have saved it though.

What concerned me more last night was the fact that such a shit team as Liege could have beaten us 3-2. Our defence is woeful. :?
Yep agree with all that, defence was pretty stocking :x considering the team we were playing against.

Totally different proposition this Sunday.. :)

Song looked twice the player going forward and defending, so I think you can only rate him as half good enough

:awnker:

i don't pick on you because you say denilson is average. i pick on you because you say arsenal is shit, and i never read a single little positive comment about our team. if we win, the opposition was shit. our players are never good enough. man, you complain a lot! look at the other 'realists' on this forum, which is like 70% of it. people here understandably complain about diaby, eboué, and such, but at least they appreciate our good moments and beautiful football played at times. every 10 posts or so i see even augie saying some good things about us! i never saw that in a post you wrote. you make me sad.
the playing mantis wrote: and dont like it when people tell you how it actually is
see? and you act like you own the truth!

talk to flash, who i always disagree with, for example, he'll tell you that i am reasonable. i'll defend this team to death, but i'll accept the fair points you make and respect them. i even respect him, flash, so friendly i am!  (just joking flashie)

the playing mantis wrote:[you] should stick to a local team that you havent got a clue about this side
this, TPM, shows what can be expected from you. i'll support the team i love, and don't give a damn about what you think. a gigantic part of this forum is not london-based, and if you think they should support their local teams, than, sir, you are the definition of the word C*NT.

no, you're not. a c*nt is a very good thing. you're just pathetic.

For me BG, you have joined the ranks (albeit that you are highly amusing  ) of those who have to start threads on a player under pressure/not rated, and say "there, see, he is good and you lot don't know what you're talking about" Could do with a little bit less of this here - of course, only in my opinion.

In terms of avatars - 10/10 mate  8)

i think this was done more in jest than anything. at least thats what i gathered from the smiling faces and the winks at the end of BG's post.
