The error against Fulham almost cost us two points, the error today did. We need consistency in a keeper and Jens has a knack of providing moments of madness or losing concentration by antics such as whining at the attention he has brought to himself at corners etc.

We battled for those 3 points today and the Jens let two of them slip through his hands.

I do wonder if this is the one season to long for Jens in the same way Seaman was kept on an extra term to long!

My problem though is that Almunia feels me wih as much confidence in goal as Senderos does at centr half! He is capable and with talent like Senderos but as with Phil you are always waiting for a clanger!

Man Yoo at home a couple of seasons ago anyone?

What would we do for a Cech or Pepe Reina hey?

:?:

Not Reina but defo Cech. That's the only keeper I'd want!

Cech has made 3 errors this season and hasn't yet won a game like Jens has this season so why do you want him if Jens is to be so derided for his two errors?

Magic Hat!

1) His consistency over a season is worth how many points?

2) His age!

To be honest anyone who doubts Cech's ability knows nothing about football!

He maybe a Chav but he is still a fucking good keeper and as hes only early twenties he is going to improve still further!

If not for his defenders, Chelsea would have 1 point this season. Yes, Cech will win points and is a fantastic keeper who will play at the highest level for years but Jens is getting more of a barracking for less mistakes.

No Magic Hat that was not my point!

I was not simply attacking Jens I was expressing concern over all our keepers!

Right now I have little confidence in all three!

I just think we should have been in the market for a world class keeper considering Jens age! He is becoming increasingly erratic and at 38 I would think he can only be on the decline.

Fabianski did nothing to inspire hope in me during the friendlies though of course I accept its early days for him!

Lets be honest do you think Almunia would get a sniff of a game at any of the other top four club's?

No is the honest answer!

As a first teamer? No. As a second choice, would be good backup for Cech and Liverpool (even if Carson hadn't got loaned out, I have huge doubts about him) but not Man U given Foster (if he wasn't injured) and Kuzack as second choices

Just straying off a bit slightly anyone else think lehman should have kept his mouth shut what with the england germany game tonight?

I seem to remember a certain mr oliver kahn in 2001 saying he didnt think much of enland and who was steven gerrard!

Lets hope lehman gets the rest of the clangers out of his system tonight and england win 5-1 again!!!!

I personally think that they were two huge mistakes and what with being in the first two league games doesnt really inspire confidence for the rest of the season. those two points dropped down the mine up north could prove costly!

Should lehman be dropped ?

Maybe. But should he be dropped for almunia? Never in a million f*cking years ! Jens has made a few errors this season and if it wasnt for his age I would have full confidence in him bouncing back but with him being the age he is I am concerned. Thing is if you look around the league at the moment there are goalkeeping gaffes all over the place and some of them are worse than jen's. It seems with every passing week we are now looking at more and more positions on our team that we feel need strengthening and considering we are buying f*ck all we should be very very afraid. I quite like the fact that jens is mental and considering the fact that we are too quiet & soft outfield I feel we need a jens in the goals. Have to say that Gus's comments about seaman were wide of the mark - we didnt keep him for a season too many, we kept him for at LEAST 2 seasons too many.

Having watched the game last night I am of the opinion that Jens
is a world class keeper who should not be dropped- Not just yet
anyway.

Ok he has made a couple of,(ONE OF WHICH WAS ADMITTEDLY COSTLY) ,errors, but the ramifications of dropping such a senior player, would send send ripples of of discourse throughout the young and (semi) inexperienced team.

I understand why people are pissed off with him. But compared to Englands
No1 Robinson, Jens, (on lasts nights performance), was in a different class.

Remember, goalies are in a no win situation. Keep a clean sheet and you are just doing your job.
.
Make a mistake and you are fcuked.

I trust Lehmann over Almunia any day. And just who is Fabianski anyway?
Some whizzkid from Poland?
Top flight football in Poland is a far cry from the EPL.

Mad Jens is on thin ice. One more howler and yes, give him a 4 or 5 match
'rest'. and bring in one of his understudies.

The goalies alright, worry more about the outfield players.
