please give what you can

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Good to see the club doing this.

Watching news coverage of this tragedy it is at least heartening to see how some countries and organisations are pulling out the stops to send aid etc. For example Israel regularly gets slagged off here by certain posters, but as usual they were one of the first countries to send a rescue team.

(Apparently Rebel's mates in the World Federation of Democratic Youth were going to do something to help, but the comrades were far too busy passing motions yearning for a return to Stalinsm and condemning the international Zionist conspiracy.)

I think Rebel explained himself later in that thread agree with him or not.... Not sure a thread about thousands of people losing their lives is the best place to bring it up again? Time to stop bearing grudges all round i think

nowt to do with grudges - merely pointing out prejudices people have and the fact a country like Israel is usually first on the scene to provide assistance in tragedies like this. Unfortunately these kind of things don't get reported very often, as it doesn't fit in with many people's world view.

Incidentally the Iranian Government refused to let Israeli rescue teams enter the country when the earthquake happened in Iran. Their antisemitism was more important than saving lives - a sad indictment in my opinion.

More importantly I hope everyone on here will donate
https://www.donate.bt.com/dec_form_haiti.html

and will also give something to Paul as well.

Very worthy causes and well worth the price of a pint or two or whatever anyone can afford. :barscarf:

Phew, Crisis averted nothing to see here.

I think we can all agree that we don't want the forum going down that road again.

also

give what you can and make sure you give it to a reputable charity (red cross, medcins sans frontieres etc.) i have no doubt that there are some dispicable people out there trying to make money out of this tragedy. I don't trust this text to donate thing, i wouldn't put it past the phone companies to take their cut before passing on the money.
