Cesc Out for the rest of the season ..

Without wish to sound all old school - what goes on in modern day football that results in so many injuries?

When you consider the double side of 71 played something like 70 games with a squad of 14 - waste high crunching tackles etc,. Why does the modern day football suffer breaks and fractures so frequently from innocuous challenges? Aren't today's footballers more healthy, using advanced training methods backed by science yet they're injured far more often.

Think of footballers a types of cars. A bog standard 4 wheel drive may be quick able to go the distance put an insane amount of mileage in before getting tired but it will lack the speed finese and skill required to be fcuking wicked but due to its size and bulk can easily run over a **** or two if you know what i mean.

look at a formula one car, insanly quick, super fines lots of trick up its sleeves etc but essentially has no bulk or inherant strength to it. a knock the wrong way and its game over.

its similar for footballers, they're so highly tuned now-a-days to operate in certain way application of force where it is not expected can do some serious damage.

I think this is a good summary of why these things happen these days

It's amazing how quickly things change at Arsenal.

Only last Saturday at 4:45pm(ish) we were beating Birmingham 1-0, within 2pts of going top of the league, had an exciting CL quarter final to look forward to, and all our players (even RvP) were returning to fitness....

then, Almunia drops the ball into his own net, we drop points on both our rivals, we get a football lesson from Barca, Gallas is out for the season, Arshavin is out for a few weeks, and all looks gloomy again  :?

Then, a late fight back sees us gain a 2-2 draw that gives us hope vs. Barca....

But then we find out Cesc has broken his leg...

and on Saturday we'll probably close the gap on the lead leaders again, before winning in the Nou Camp....

Welcome to the topsy turvy world of the Arsenal

BT wrote::cry:  Gutted. So this season, we've had broken bones to Ramsey, Gibbs, Djourou, Van Persie, Nasri...and Gallas, Walcott, Clichy, Denilson and Bendtner all out for 2-3 months each. It is ridiculous.

Saddest thing is a) if he never wears the Arsenal shirt again and b) he won't be able to lift the trophies as captain should we pull off a miracle.

One plus is it might stop him wanting to leave in the summer - would definitely be unfinished business to end it this way.
If we win the league or CL he will surely be there to lift the trophy wont he?

He's an total and utter smarmy faced, sly, cheating *word censored*, got Barca's first choice centre backs and his international team-mates banned for the next leg with his fuckery. I wouldn't shed a tear if the twat never played football again, utter utter prick.

Reminds me a bit of 2002 when Pires got injured against Newcastle in the FA Cup replay at Highbury Q-Final. He was flying that season (although we did have better players around him)

Hopefully the others now will step up and deliver for the skipper..

Assume that also means Almunia is now captain for the remainder of the season...

I do wonder if this is just an Arsenal thing..... You think of some of most historic moments....

Fairs cup 1970 lost the first leg 3-1 and won the 2nd 3-0
Double of 71 having to beat sp*rs away and then being 1-0 down in extra time of the cup final to win it...
1979 cup final cruising as 2-0 on ly to lose it and win it again in the last couple of minutes
1989 lost to Derby and drew with Wimbledon at home fucking our chances up only to win it at Anfield
1994 Under a barrage from a vastly technically superior Parma only to win
1995 lose in the last second to that scum *word censored*
2001 cup final losing after battering Liverpool for 90 mins

Its enough to give any Gooner heart problems

As much as we will miss Cesc for the rest of the seaon with all the passion he shows for the team Nasri showed against Porto that he can run the show and after all thats what we bought him for. Its at the back im concerned about if Gallas and Clichy are long term (2+ weeks) injuries. There is no way we can win either competition with Campbell and Sylvestre at the back.
