I Don't Get Diaby

We're never going to agree SteveO, so while I respect your argument, I look at it a different way.

I wouldn't mind if he stayed to develop as a bit part player (although we have too many "developing") but also would not protest at Wenger's office if he was unloaded. He's just too "in and out" sometimes his control is great, sometimes awful. I great shot on target, 3 by the corner flag.

I think Wenger refered to the failure to create the second as a "very bad decision" or something like that. I'm sure it's on audio somewhere.

Fair enough I do understand what you're saying. If we had three central midfielders in the class of a Vieira, Petit, Edu, Gilberto or Diarra I would probably be with you in being a bit more indifferent if he were to leave. I think since those players left he is the one that I hoped would develop to that level because he has the talent to do it. Maybe he never will reach that level, but I'm hoping....

He's got a shed load of talent, you're right. Can he apply it to be really top class, on a consistent basis?

Another question mark in our squad... :?

I've got faith in Diaby.
He will become a key player in our team, imo.
I think he will become a very effective box-to-box midfielder.
I remember watching that match that Eboue got booed off (and it was like he was on drugs how he played that day).
If he can turn things around (and :barscarf: to you, Emmanuel!) then Diaby certainly can.

But again I ask how has eboue turned it around ? In my opinion he isnt doing anything really different than he was at that time expect maybe a small bit less diving. Fact is he is being used a bit more at right back which is his proper position but other than that nothing much has changed except after the booing the fans have turned him into a cult hero for some reason (guilt maybe ?) :?

Well, I've been impressed with Eboue's response and form of late, anyway.
(But dip me in honey and throw me to the lesbians... :D )

Kiwi I would be one of the guys that has defended eboue (as a back up right back only) in the past so I aint having a go at the guy or anything but if I am honest I am beginning to find this cult hero thing nearly as embarrassing as the booing incident. His attitude and response to that incident has def been very commendable but is he held in such high regard now cos (a) fans now believe he is a good player (b) fans feel guilty at the treatment he received that day v wigan or (c) fans have looked at walcott and figured that eboue is not as shitty as him ? :?

Diaby for me is the guy to have on the bench to bring on as a physical presence.

He is good at bringing the ball from inside our half to about the edge of the penalty area, but then offers little in the way of a final ball.

His tackling is not consistent enough to be thought of as a defensive midfielder.

If Ramsey returns and hopefully finds his pre-injury form, I think Diaby will seldom start games and may leave end of 2010 - 2011.

Diaby is one of those enigmas we have in our squad. He's got everything in his locker and whilst he's a bit hit n miss i'd still rather trust him in our team than Denilson (who on the other hand contributes very little in terms of making a difference).
I think he's a good bridge between Cesc and Song in the middle. He's big and strong, has good technique, his tackling has improved (still needs to get better though) and is very good going forward.

I actually believe his best position is probably second striker but Wenger seems to have dropped the 4-4-2/4-4-1-1 system this season.

I actually though Abu was very good for us last night, he was strong in the middle and kept possession very well.

i suppose it only serves to highlight his lack of consistancy for the Arse!

i would also go on record to say i was disapointed when denilson went off, he was having arguably his best game for us IMO until wenger took him off.

IMO rosicky has gone, and needs to be shown the door in the summer, get him off of the wage bill and get someone in as a replacement!!

i too do not rate denilson at all, but please tell me what he did wrong last night! in all honnesty he worked hard and kept possession and even broke down a hell of a lot of spurs attacks. nothing funny about that. i think your comment is instigated by a deep dislike for the boy! you need to give credit where it is due!!

Denilson having his best game for us????

Once more he was apalling. When he did actually try and pass the ball forward, shock fucking horror, he passed to a Spuds player EVERY time. He was invisible in midfield as usual with players ghosting past him as he pulled out of the tackles. Simlply not good enough for Arsenal.

This is a good summary. I'm not sure that we should be lauding a player who passes the ball neatly within 10-15 yards, when the other team is mostly standing off, as having his best game for us. He is just not exceptional and is getting found out more and more.
