Thought I'd add this here.
An (arsenal) mate on Facebook had an ex-colleague (Sp*d) comment on his status.
Basically, the message was that the Sp*d had heard strong rumour from contacts at Sky (which he has!) that both Wenger and Cesc will go at the end of the season.

As my mate replied "Bullshit" but thought I'd add it. Personally, I also think it's a wind-up.

What I'd like to know is, if such a meeting had taken place, what were Arsenal doing? Why would you meet another club to discuss one of your player's future unless you were considering selling?

Seems a bit stupid to go to that trouble just to tell Barca Cesc isn't for sale.

There are two points here.

Firstly, Hill-Wood had no business going public and spouting off about another Clubs - in this case Barcelona - transfer intentions, not least because he and indeed us as a Club, can have little or no control over those intentions.

But the major point, is that it just makes us look feeble and pitiful. We are reduced to boasting about that fact that at least for this coming season, someone is not going to try and prise our star player from us. With the clear implication that the following year they probably will.

It makes him and us sound and look like Neville Chamberlain post Munich 1938.

The fact that Barca appear to have contradicted Hill-Wood publicly makes him and us look even more inept.

Coming on top of last night it has not improved my general disposition one jot.

One reason why I'm for a takeover is because it will hopefully mean the senile old *word censored* will be fucked out of the club.

Whatever hope we had of keeping this in house and brushing it under the carpet now has gone with both The Daily Express and either The Mirror or Daily Star running with it as a main back page story :( Everytime this *word censored* opens his mouth it causes embarrassment and it is about time the supporters let the old fool know what they think of him - how about a few renditions of "fuck off hill wood" to the air of "we've got cesc fabregas" this weekend at wigan ?

Yes its the Sun but the point is PHW opens us up to these sort of articles by shouting his mouth off in the first place
CESC FABREGAS and Arsene Wenger have been left incensed by an astonishing gaffe from Arsenal chief Peter Hill-Wood.
The Gunners chairman infuriated his star player and manager by claiming the Arsenal skipper "would not even get in" the Barcelona team.

Fabregas has been at the centre of season-long speculation surrounding a move to the European champions and his future at the Emirates remains a highly-sensitive issue.

Wenger is desperate to keep him and the last thing he needed was any ill-timed comments from his own club hierarchy.

But Hill-Wood could not resist a clumsy attempt to bring the speculation to a halt by insisting the Catalan giants promised him they would not make a move this summer.

And he said: "If you want my opinion, I'm not sure he would even get in their team. Do they need him? I'm not sure they do."

A source close to the club revealed: "Cesc and Arsene were furious Hill-Wood should go so far as to suggest Fabregas isn't good enough to play for his old club.

"They thought his comments were bang out of order. Anyone who is anybody in football knows Cesc would enhance any team in the world, even Barcelona.

"So the next meeting between Hill-Wood and his manager is likely to be a frosty one."

Hill-Wood claimed on Wednesday that Barca told Arsenal they would not go after Fabregas.

But Nou Camp sporting director Txiki Begiristain yesterday rejected that.

Spanish sources reckon Barca only promised to deal directly and up front with the Gunners.

The question that needs to be asked is how this twat is chairman of a great club like Arsenal when he owns less than 1% of the shares. Its like the tea boy being the head of Microsoft

Hill-Wood should go now, and take with him all that BS about Arsenal tradition etc. I'm sick of it, he's clearly part of this 'lets not spend anything!" attitude that has always been at our club. Thats why they don't want Wenger to leave, can you imagine if we had a manager like Mourhinio, he'ld expose the old farts in a second

ok...i know its hard but forget what that fool PHW has said..

Put yourself in cescs shoes for a minute....
If i were him ,as captain and a player who WANTS to win things,id go to my manager and..
1..Ask him if he is going to buy a new world class goalkeeper.
2..Buy at least another 2-3 players to replace the crap usual suspects.
if the manager says YES to both these questions, then ill give it another year.

..But if the manger wont deliver,then......ADDIOS!!!

You have pretty much got it !

The thing is that Cesc is - at least I think ! - unlikely to front Wenger up in quite that way. He won't have to. He'll just look at what we do, or do not do, in this coming transfer window. If Wenger is serious and acts, then we and he, will know that we at least have a chance.

But if he sits back and does nothing - :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:
then we won't have to wait for this time next year as we'll all know the answer - Cesc included.

One definition of insanity is doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting a different result.

This transfer window coming up is the most important Wenger has ever faced since he came here - bar none.

If he sits back, then Cesc is gone, come 2011 and Wenger's credibility goes with him.

So the ball is well and truly in Wenger's court and no excuses are to be counted for whatever reason.

I think the Cecs situation is pretty clear, one more year with us then off to Barca to enjoy one year settling in and gradually taking over more and more from Xavi who can then retire at 32

If we are really lucky (summer spending dependant) they will wait for him him take over from Inesta in 2-3 years when Inesta is 29-30.

I think the most likely player to go to Barca is Clichy. I think he's been fantastic for the last few games. He had a really bad spell after his injury but he was clearly still affected. You could see he was 2-3 yards slower, I remember particularly him getting outrun by Evra like he was jogging and that wasn't the Clichy I knew. In the last 4-5 games his pace is back and so is his performances and determination. Barca would love to have him opposite Alves and I think he'd be a great signing for them. It would also cement his place ahead of Abidal in the French team (albeit prob still behind Evra).

You'd think if someone was going to do a brilliantly original photshop gag similar to the style above they'd at least do a half decent job
