What is really pathetic however is having to put up with Gooners who think using the word is acceptable. It isn't. It is an antisemitic word.
At St Andrews I felt ashamed to be a Gooner when I heard some of our so-called supporters chanting "The y**s, The y**s, We've got to get rid of the y**s."
Elderly members of my family remember that chant very well from the 1930s as they defended themselves from Mosley's nazi-inspired fascist thugs in the East End who used it as their rallying cry as they attacked the Jews.
