Arsenal vs Hapoel Tel Aviv in 1951 was first match played at Highbury under floodlights.
Herbert Chapman had installed them in the 1930's but the FA refused to sanction their use because they were thought to be, in the contemporary words of Sir Rumbold Peppermint-Humbug, "Illuminations of the type used by bounders and cads and therefore thoroughly un-English."

i'm personally a Beter fan - used to have a flat in Jlem and used to go games AGES ago....
also love the hate towards thoes dirty *word censored* (Bnei Sakhin - aravim bnei clavim)

To be perfectly honest, Sami, I can't seperate my hatred towards Beitar and Hapoel.
Hapoel I hate becuase they are my sp*rs. I grew up as a Maccabi fan, and obviously, by that I grew up hating Hapoel (like my future kids will hate Sp*rs and Hapoel).
Beitar I hate for similar reasons (always a great rivalry between these two clubs), but I hate the whole essence of this team as well.
I despise the amount of racism that is going through this team's croud, 99% towards Arabs. This club's supporters (Not all of them, but the main support groups) are a bunch of racist *word censored* with no brain. They do what ever they want in the football stadium. They're supposed to be right wing extremists, but they are far too stupid to understand that.
Just for an example, on the minute of silence in the Itzhak Rabin murder memorial day, the entire beitar croud booed for the whole minute. Disgrace.
They have major financial problems, and I hope this club goes down for good.

Someone lock this thread. It's mis-leading for one and completely irrelevant.
Couple of pricks having a chat - keep it to PM.

I wouldn't get a season ticket if I were you, as I see you're a religios guy, and most of beitar's game are on shabat. There are no waiting lists whatsoever in Israel, there will be enough ST at least 2-3 weeks when they release them to the public.

First of all, watch your language. If you are to have a decent time around here, it'll be better if you keep your writing to a higher standarts which i'm sure you're capable of.
Secondly, it's not mis-leading. How is this drama any smaller than the one in 89'?

What has it go to do with you?
You are hardly a good contributor to this site, just post average threads and spout off racist crap.

DanielD wrote:Hapoel Tel Aviv were 2 points behind Maccabi Haifa today going into the last matchday of the season. Hapoel had a better goal difference.
Haifa were playing Bney Yehuda and going into stoppage time, the score was 1-1.
Hapoel were Going into stoppage time playing against Beitar Jerusalem in the same result (1-1).
In this situation, Haifa are champions.
on the 93' minute, Hapoel scored! They lead 2-1 and after Haifa falied to score against Bney Yehuda, Hapoel were crowned champions..
As a Maccabi Tel Aviv fan, I'm sick to my stomach. It doesn't get much worst than that for a fan.
Amazing drama to say the least... All this happened 10 minutes ago, and I'll call sick at work in the morning.
A team crowned champions after the 90' minute mark on the last match of the season. This time I was on the wrong side.
This is the biggest load of bollocks I have ever had the misfortune to read, and why I am acknowledging it with a reply I don't know.

Playing games on the Sabbath does seem a bit stupid...
Do they get much of a crowd to games on Saturdays there?
Although I suppose like any religion you'll still get a big group that put the team before the religious "law"?
Still...it'd be like there being a Premier League match on Christmas Day...

Israel may be a Jewish country, but we're not a religious country. That's why it's ok to play on Saturday, just like Arsenal are playing football on a Sunday (we too, don't have matches on holidays).
Most matches don't have a lot of croud because the Israeli audience like seeing quality football, and except the top 2-3 teams in the country the level of football here is shite.
As for tickets for big matches. You have a large amount of tickets put on general sale (there's no Red\Silver memberships here), and they are bought after about 1-2 days if the match is big.
Football is our national sport, but the level here is not high enough. Hopefully we can improve in the next few years.
