As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I was sixteen years old and it was the best footballing moment of my life. We had led the league for so long that year but Liverpool put in a great run since Hillsborough.

I love to see the footage of McMahon strutting around yelling one minute. Barnes' sly handshake as if they had already won the double. Then the great moment. Aldridge pushing away O'Leary. That was an Arsenal team. :barscarf:

And also to Bouldy for the first half miss and to Thomas for fluffing the similar and easier chance!
The win wouldn't have been much fun that way!
And what about Mickey Thomas back pass after he scored.Heart attack time or what?
Watching that back pass now, it just seems plain wrong that John Lukic was allowed to pick it up !

Great stuff!! I went to so many away games that season but steered clear of away games selected for live TV coverage. This meant I didn't have a ticket for the original fixture and therefore the re-arrange fixture. It will take something very special to beat it.

Happy St. Michael's Day :barscarf:

I was seven and remember all the action, all the build up on the news and stuff. My dad - a chavsea- fan went mental when Thomas scored, shouting 'take that, you scouse bastards!' and then carried me aroud the room. My mum came in and told him to put me down and went back to the kitchen as if nothing had happened.

Reading some of the posts on this thread makes me feel old.

Without a shadow of doubt the greatest game i ever went to.

Remember it took about 6/7 hours by road, traffic was a nightmare on a Friday night.

After the game quite a few ended up in a boozer in Liverpool, and no they didn't take it well.

Half of us went back to London after a drink (straight to Highbury) the other half headed to Glasgow where England were playing Scotland.

Top top couple of days.

I was a devilishly handsome 21 yr old pup at the time in the first spring in youth.

Just remember thinking throughout the night that we'd do it - that's what George Graham instilled in the players and fans alike. He predicted 2-0, that was good enough for me to 'lump on' with the bookies.

Nothing Arsenal related will ever come close to it again for me, a once in a lifetime.

I had a lot of beer that night! Got so drunk. There is a photo somewhere of me the next day outside my local boozer about 1pm, still drunk, pint in hand, big shit eating grin on my face. Didn’t go back to work for a week. Drunk every day. Quality.

The greatest moment ever. Ever. 8)

To the tune of Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band

It was 21 years ago today
That Georgie Graham's boys were to play
They were gonna go and win in style
Playing with guts and guile

Its up for grabs right nowwwwwwwwww
So let me show you how it was done
The ball was knocked long to Smudger Smith
All the way from Lee Dixon
So sit back and watch the show

Georgie Graham's lads done it baaaaad
It was wonderful to see it
It was certainly a thrill
To see Mickey Thomas charging thru the middle
To make it 2-0 to us
To make it 2-0!!!!!

I didnt wanna stop thew show
But i thought you'd like to know
That the Scousers were singing their song
But Thomas didnt wanna singing along
So let me introduce to you
the one and only Brian Moore
Michael Thomas is GONNA SCORE!!!!!!

Ok its not brill but its mine and i dont care....21 years ago tonight fabtastic.... George Graham's boys

I still feel really proud and lucky to be able to say I was there on Arsenal's most famous night.
And I've still got the polo shirt with the old style cannon on it that I wore that night. AND IT FITS!

Happy Days :barscarf: :barscarf:
