True, but that should be your decision to make. When you've had enough of going round in circles, you stop and the thread naturally drops down the page and that's that.
I don't see a need to force an end to a popular thread that hasn't crossed any boundaries.
In fact, may I suggest a MOD exclusion zone around these political threads and suggest they hold fire until forum boundaries have been breached?
(I promise that no political view was expressed in that comment, by the way!)
Or do what Quartz did when USMartin had worn him down after 10,678 pages of debate about the board and say:
"we have to agree to disagree"

USMartin the only person wear down Quartz in a posting war

Yes, that was a classic response!
And marc, I know it's splitting hairs, but I think it was VforVictory, not Quartz

Keen Forum readers will note that I have continued my discussions with "USMartin" on other threads

.
Basically that thread mentioned just became each of us repeating ourselves, with no new points mentioned. Hence I drew a line under it. Stalemate!
At that point, as G88ner says, the thread fizzles out.

So, which MOD locked the thread?
1. IHH (100/1 as he's already denied it)
2. REBEL (75/1 as he denied it, but not as quick as IHH

)
3. Dicko (50/1 as she hardly posts anymore

)
4. Belfast (50/1 as he's not posted in ages

)
5. TonySunders (50/1 - same reason as Belfast)
6. Gooner.ed (25/1 - maybe, but I think he would comment as he respects Quartz"y

)
7. Mike Francis (25/1 - too busy at Gooner towers to bother with the basement)
who else????
8. Chippy (10/1 - a known assassin, and involved with politics.... but has he been on here recently??)
9. DB10 (2/1 - commented on the thread himself... and even spoke of "TRYING" to keep the thread open!)
10. Spuddy?? EVENS

- has history and posted in the basement yesterday
