Koscielny...

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

You're not bothered we're going into a new season with just Kos and Djourou as TV's partners?

Yeah, sure it'll be alright on the night tho.
How many of the pre-seasons games have you seen?

So it's not "end of" (which you said in another thread) at all then is it.

What did you think of them in those games? You cant jugde how a player is going to be in the premier league after one 'bad' performance in a friendly. Give the guy a bit of time to build a partnership with Vermalean and then make a judgement.

Being slightly off the pace, a mistimed tackle, an og - all things you can expect pre-season.

But...

awful positional sense, panic stations when a high ball comes in, rash decision making - these are things that should come as naturally to him as breathing

I have seen enough polish defending for a life time.

To be fair, when Fabianski is having a shocker, and Vermaelen is all at sea, and Sagna is way out of position for one of the goals, you have feel a little sorry for Koscielny. He's the newest member of a back 4 that has played together for an entire season, and SHOULD be guiding him through - however, they can't help him because they all look completely lost.

It's a mess! :?

He had a good game against Milan ..

It's hard to judge him on the pre season games though. Today Vermaelen was awful, but he's still one of our best players. Let's be patient with him .. and don't forget we'll sign another center back!

It’s unfair on Kos to be put in this position. He should have had other CB’s there to learn from other than TV. No way is Kos ready for the prem yet; I think it will take at least 3-4 months.
Again this is down to our Manager; if he would have bought a proven CB then Kos would have been a prefect under study
