spurs away support

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Nice one!

When they say, "Carragher steals in at the far post", they're right on all levels! 8)

Why is it that posts like this always throw up at least one comment that is stabbing one of our own in the back ? Mr Tyers, George Graham is not a tosser and is probably more of an Arsenal man than 90% of people that post on these forums (inc me). He was a strong part of our '71 double winning team which was the 1st double ever won by the club. He was THE manager that broke the dominance of the scousers and done so against tremendous odds. He was the man that give us the incredible 5 (seaman, dixon, bould,TA & nutty) that served us so well for so long and indeed were the basis of Wengers 1st double winning team. True his football was not on the same planet as wengers but it was a different era(fuck all tv money & no foreigners to improve the game) and it is not like we ever had a reputation for exciting football before he arrived. GG gave us a team that would lay their lives down for the club and each other and along with the trophies he brought us as well we could ask for no more so instead of making ignorant comments you could show the man some respect cos he sure as hell earned it.

I have to say that I wanted to comment in the manner Augie did but I have caused enough rows for one day!

I agree, respect is due for all of the reasons given above. What is going on now has been made possible by what was done before.

And, for all you purists - even though we take the piss out of some of the players who played at this time (particularly the turgid 92-95), from 86-92, we had some teams playing outstanding, attacking , skillful football which was a joy to watch.

And as Graham said to Richard Keys when asked if he had taken his eye of the ball in his final Arsenal years:

"I was too busy winning trophies"

Amen to that! i grew up watching GG football, it wasn't pretty most of the times but some of the greatest Arsenal players it has ever been my privilege to watch played under that manager, and he absolutely deserves our respect.

I had the 'privilege' of seeing the mighty Spurs getting a magnificent 1-1 draw against our local heroes Anorthosis on thursday night, and to be fare, they had over 2000 supporters in the ground. Not bad considering it was a mid-week game in Larnaca.

But considering their knowledge of local politics, ( going by the sick chants directed at the Ano fans ), I think many of them lived on the Turkish side of the Green Line .

They were nothing short of a bunch of animals, who have the misfortune to follow a truly SHIT football team.

I really hope they get relegated.

Nice to have first hand account Hagbard 23

On the 2000 away fans - this is their big day - guarantees group stage UEFA Cup football (can hardly keep straight face while writing). Only another 57 games until the final.

And the chanting - a repeat of the first leg it seems. Not sure about the Green Line, more like the Turkish side of Green Lanes!

And your passion to see spurs get relegated is truly magnificent. Well played!

Also what I thought was funny is that Anorthosis FC charged the Spuds 20 quid to get in, and only charged the locals a tenner !! :P :P :P :P
