Have to say the group stages are a bore. And were we ever to win the thing then I couldn't give a toss if we never won it again.
Give me Saturday football any day of the week.
UEFA have done their bit to devalue it by ensuring that decent clubs get knocked out in the Play Off Round whilst champions of the lesser countries get an easier path to the Group stage.
Saw this one coming a mile off and its reflected in our Group and others, and the number of games that will go to general sale
There seems to be a PC obsession with "spreading the word" (a bit like letting shit nations get an easier path to the World Cup) and the moral high ground that it should only be a cup for Champions.
That's all fine but actually will revive the talk of a proper European League. Not bought tickets for any of our CL group games but there isn't a League match that I haven't. I get enough of Bolton and Blackpool at home......I don't need to see their equivalent standard clubs from Europe.
I flicked between the spuds & mancs games tonight, very boring and what the fuck was the ref doing in the spuds game? fucking shit! As for the format it's crap, boring and we already know who's going to qualify & who isn't. I never thought i'd say this cause I used to love this competition but the champions league, with all these two bob sides in it is RUBBISH!
