I'd take him in our starting line up. Could do with him, also his leadership and experience.

I think his call-up is long over due. He's been one of the most underrated forwards in the Premier League for years.

Fair play to him I say.

Why is Jack in both sides?! You either play for one or the other.. End of.

I agree. Stuart Pearce is a disaster as England U21 boss imo.

An decent player who excels due to his workrate and total commitment. A few Arsenal first teamers should take note

He'll join the list of England legends that include Zat Knight and John Salako.

An usused substitute against mighty Montenegro - who cares

Really nice story, to be 33 and earn your first call up, it's very exciting for him. I hope Capello actually uses him for at least a half hour. Anyway nice story, good to see someone new given a shot, god knows Rooney can't put the ball in the net lately :P

Funny story on sunday supplement about how pearce has fallen out with andy carroll.......the geordie player got injured playing for his club before an important u-21 game and the medical staff at the club declared that he would have to withdraw from the squad. Pearce decides that he still wants carroll to travel down to luton to be assessed by the under 21 physio who of course is also the physio at newcastle so carroll naturally enough gets the right hump with pearce demanding him to travel down to luton to be examined by the physio who had just declared him unfit and he left pearce in no doubt how he felt

Davies is a journeyman striker of moderate talent, no more no less. But he is NOT anywhere near international standard. It reeks of a desperate action from a desperate man.

Maybe but knowing Cappello likes a big man up front as an option, I'd say he's likely to be more effective in the 'big man' role than anyone else, including Heskey - much as we might despise his overly-physical style.

He is better than Bendy and Vela though. Would take Davies over both

technically he is nowhere near as good as vela but he has the fight and the strength and that is more important for me. vela never looks like doing anything for us unless we're 4-0 up at home

Agreed. Davies has gotten as far as he has (a career as a pro) based on moderate talent but also huge work rate and the ability to understand and do what he does best without trying to do what he can't. I respect that work ethic but that's not enough for Engerland or Arsenal. If we could only somehow have Vela's technical ability and Davies work rate/hunger combined...

tbh It's a bit embarrassing for capello, heskey turned him down and now he's gone for davies, a 33 year old bolton striker
